Classic show. I loved Test at this time, I always routed for his career and this is probably the best it ever got. A year later the peak ended with a match against Undertaker. Rip big man

I liked him a lot too but I never understood why he would join the Alliance and be on the same side with Stephanie McMahon
@TheRealAhoy

@@jeremycastillo8594 It was put down as water under the bridge, they do that all the time in wrestling. "Oh you're a bad guy/good guy now? Ok we're cool" logic. He was written as Shane's bestie so that was the main thing to drive. As Shane and Steph was all about the power trip, they were pretty one dimensional so there wasn't much plot taken into account.

Hey man both X-Pac and Tajiri were in the wwf side, but X-Pac remained a heel (because x-pac heat was on full force) that's why the finish was like that 👍

5:26 Edge's finisher at the time was the Edgecution, which was his variant of the impaler DDT. The Edge-O-Matic was him pulling them down onto their head from behind.

Summerslam 2K1! I have to say in a weird way 98-02' were solid Summerslams. 2K1 from a wider standpoint don't seem like a classic but for storyline progression and bigger angles down the line, this is a personal favorite Summerslam for me. Def need to revisit 98-02 again. ❤🍻

It's always interesting to hear POV on shows I attended live. Also, odd piece of history. A number of the employees of the Shark Tank were given free tickets to this show. One of them gave theirs to a mutual friend, which is how I wound up going to a big 4 PPV for the low low price of $0.

Stone Cold’s heel turn worked when he was with Triple H, he was legitimately terrifying with a chair, but after Invasion it was hard to watch
@BigBrianBruce
@BigBrianBruce Жыл бұрын
I been watching a lot of 2000/2001 wwe and I agree that heel turn at wrestlemania was unnecessary even when he was a heel he 2s still over cause it didn’t matter if he was a heel or baby face the fans just loved Austin. The power man trip made sense cause Austin and hhh were two guys who would do anything to beat at the top which made sense story wise for them to come together

Fun fact: this is the first time where Steve and Kurt had a Summerslam match and nothing happens that halts the flow of the match. 1997- Steves dropped onto his head 1998- Steve gets knocked unconscious by Takers head 1999- Steve gets himself wrapped upside down in the ring ropes by his leg braces 2000- Kurt is dropped face first into the floor knocking him unconscious

In Test's defence, he was accused by other WWF wrestlers of being a traitor, which turned out to be Stone Cold. He only turned on WWF because he'd become a pariah through no fault of his own. And his run in The Alliance was a huge boon since he won the WWF World Tag Team Championship and WCW World Tag Team Championship with Booker T and the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Plus, he won the Immunity Battle Royal at Survivor Series and had a sleeper hit of a match with Kane the previous month at No Mercy. I wonder what Grandma Edna thinks of Christian these days.

So Tajiri wasn't on Team Alliance...but when they had injuries start racking up or wrestlers just weren't ready for TV (after not working for so long), they started having WWF guys fight each other for belts cus some like X-Pac were too heel to be cheered. Can't remember who Tajiri beat for the WCW cruiserweight belt though....but its also why we had Jericho and The Rock feuding with each other over the WCW World Title

One small point about match 3, Simon... Tajiri was not a member of the Alliance... He stayed loyal to Team WWF... X-Pac was also loyal to Team WWF, he was just an asshole... The dynamic and booking of this match was WWF v WWF, and they would roll this one back in a couple months with Rock and Jericho, both WWF, feuding over the WCW title
