I've always been a big fan of Bagley's. Their lures just have the coolest profiles, heft and brilliant colors patterns. They definitely have a high-end, high quality vibe. Those Fat Cat's are, imo, just about the sweetest crankbaits ever produced, with that pregnant belly and skinny tail. And the finishes! Oh boy, you are spot on with how unique the scale pattern finish on these lures is - it's practically holographic. And the tasty underwater footage of the Fat Cat in action. Dang, that's some camera work, buddy! So cool looking at those 1980s Bass Pro catalog spreads. Late last year a tackle shop in my town went out of business. It had been there a good many years, at least since I was a kid. They had a liquidation sale and were selling old school lures at sharp discounts. I spent just about all the expendable cash I had buying old school baits, including a handfull of old Bagley's (unfortunately, they didn't have any Fat Cats). They are definitely favorites in my modest collection. Awesome episode!

My Father was a great bass fisherman. He also owned a bar in Indianapolis Indiana. He loved these Fat Cat fishing lures. So he called his bar "Fat Cat's" I still have some brand new Fat Cat lures. But, Have never fished one. Because they always reminds me of him. Thanks, Dad for starting me in fishing at five years old. I am 62 today! I miss my fishing buddy. R.I.P. Dad. Shawn.

Those old Bagleys were a lot of fun, for sure! On days when I have a hard time catching them, I just chalk it up to the fish not hitting my baits out of respect. They don't want to mess up such a pretty lure!🤣

Love the Fat Cat, I have several I bought new around 1991 including the hard to find Pistachio. I have a couple more Old School baits for you to look into. First is the Heddon Timber Rattler crankbait produced around 1985. It's made of white cedar and was one of the last wooden lures produced by Heddon before the Lurenet takeover. The other is a quirky stickbait by Cotton Cordell called the Walkin Stick. I believe it was produced in the mid 1980's for a short time, it is kind of a jerkbait/topwater that is alot of fun to play around with. Great episode! Keep it Old School!

Actually just went on a tear buying up Bagley’s. Bought quite a few Fat Cat's, Vintage B2 Diver, Smoo (as a joke), 2 of my favorite as well the Small Fry, and an underrated lure IMO The Shad-a-Lac. That Yellow Fat Cat is worth a PRETTY PENNY!

$4.29 in 1989 is equal to $10.00 in 2023 . New Bagley lure still about the same price factoring the inflation 1989 is the year I arrived in Gadsden Alabama USA. My first introduction to bass fishing was with Bagley lure And Rat-L-Trap . Bought from K-Mart It was wonderful

I loved the Diving Bee DB2, but didn't fish them as much as I would like because they were very expensive and would get beat up pretty quick after you catch a few fish on them. Hot belly crawdad was my favorite color, won a big open tournament with one back in the day. But the crankbait I caught the most fish on was the Bomber Model A deep diver, that pearly white was the best choice on my local lake, always ran great.

The reason why you got all those comments last week, was because they were talking about your Trilene jacket, they were saying it's too BAGGIE, not Bagley. They liquidated those shallow cats in 1998-9 for $2. (Tenn shad, and chrome shad) I got like 6 out of the bargain bin. You got paint checks in that Pistachio pattern.

I don't know if balsa makes the best crankbaits, but they are the most durable. I've cracked more than a few of the new plastic Rapala's smacking rocks or posts, don't think I've ever broke any wood lure, including the plastic lips. And one of my very favorite new Raps is all plastic, and I have a collection of them sitting on my desk with lips broken off.

I love the fat cat its a sweet crank near rocks love the old fire tiger color in that bait. One of the only fire tigers I actually like but a lot of guys say they're an ugly bait. I think there just unique and different and give the bait just a different wobble thats actually pretty subtle with a bait thats pretty chunky for its size.

Great job on Bagley's. My first crankbaits I bought with my own money was a Rapala Fat Rap and an Arbogast Arbogaster. The Fat Rap met a snag and I still have the Arbogaster but the Hula Skirt is gone.

I did well as a kid fishing for European perch and pike using a Storm Hot n tot, and a small Bomber alphabet (small a?), which I'd saved up birthday money and sent off for. It wasn't easy to get USA lures over here, and myself and most people I know who fished lures then had fish on a Shakespeare big S. One of the many Big O copies down the line. A fish catcher though, and although it's still available, like so many things, they don't make em like they used to! It's only recently, after 30 years of admiring them, that I've actually got hold of a few Bagley's, beautiful lures! Bit afraid to cast them, but that is what they're for right?! When I was a kid it was the monster shad that everyone here talked about, as an alternative to the rapala super shad rap, which was a big dog in the European Pike fishing scene (and still is). Got my first monster shad this year, fingers crossed for a big pike on it! No Fat cat's so far, but always on the lookout :) Keep it carpet side up bud! And keep the ace content coming!

Try Riverside Big Wag worms and Big Foot lizards. (They had other styles too, maybe even a Big Fry but don't hold me to that, I had their small Riverside catalog/brochure once, Pradco printed up a bunch of their newly acquired product lines at the time) The lizard had a tail that curls up, not oriented off to one side. Mid 90's Shortlived Pradco offering, clearanced through Big Lots stores. (BIG theme begining to end) I got a bunch but none left in the original packaging, I did like to cut out and save the BIGWAG lable, to hold up when someone was spewing nonsense, as in BIG CHIN WAG.

The original mama cats had boobs painted on them. Jim's wife Vera made him quit that. I lived in Austin most of my life. I won a ton of money on Bagley's KiilrB2's, Bang-O-Lures, Square Billed Balsa B's, and other baits they made. I contributed to a book about Bagley baits. I own and fish with them to this day
