My work used to have these Lithonia lights, however since we switched to leds on the ceiling, we stopped using them, but I would say this is useful incase those leds break since most of these there are burned out.

I have the same 175 watt fixture and your light bulb led is 60 wat is this a good brightness

Unfortunately, half the light from that LED corn bulb is being blocked by the bulb and wasted on the inside of fixture reflector. The LED bulb manufacturers who make these bulbs also make them with 180 degree light output area as opposed to these 360 degree bulbs. The 180 degree bulbs are normally used in these Wallpack type fixtures where the back of bulb is the heatsink.

If the ground wire was disconnected but left floating would that cause the circuit to fail?

I am not an electrician, but I DO NOT recommend ungrounded circuit (leaving ground float). The electricity need to have a way to reach ground.
