This is awesome! Been waiting for the SNESMaker for a min

SNESMaker...I definitely can't wait.

Loving this!!! Super smart, that you can develop multi platforms. It makes sense as Nes, Snes and Genesis 6502 assembly, underpins these consoles. The possibility's are going to amazing!!! Simply Fantastic!!

The Sega Genesis uses a Motorola 68000. So it's a bit different. But yes. I agree. It's super cool to have all these game platforms in one application.

I saw there's also the genesis! This is gonna be great

Genesis will likely be a ways behind. But the tool itself is built to be sort of console agnostic to be able to continue to grow as time goes on.

Looking awesome. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Appreciate all the time and attention to detail you and the team are putting on it. Keep up the good work!

1) First priority and most important for me. YES FOR SNES!!!

I'm not sure what you mean by #6 - you literally are watching it open in a SNES emulator in this video. You design it in the tools, then assemble it by hitting the test button, and it creates the rom that opens in the emulator for testing (or final distribution). As for 7 - that will always be in flux, and the issue is really preventing user error. First step - get a more vanilla, customizable engine out there. As for 8 - it'll all be assembly by default, but you can manage the scripts and pick your emulator, so advanced users should be able to modify that. But...because of how we're building it, and the support we'll be providing, Assembly will be the smart way to go. as for 10 - vanilla first. We'll see how it grows.

Just starting to watch the video and looking forward to previewing the updated program! Any chance you'll add the Atari 2600 as a development option since it's a fellow 6502 console like the NES and otherwise relatively simple in terms of hardware compared with the others?
@rbmc19832 сағат бұрын
That would be really nice. Atari 2600 and 7800 would be perfect. I would love to see Sega Master System also, but not as much as the other ones.

Great news! I'm still waiting for a SEGA Maker, starting with the SG-1000, then scaling up to later consoles due to backwards compatibility.

Master System and Gamegear would be great.

SNES MAKER YOOOOO
@DennisJ4210 сағат бұрын
I have an actual FX PAK Pro (actual SNES cartridge that I can put homebrew roms on) that I used for a bit of SNES dev some years ago? I used PV SNES Lib. I made a demo for the actual SNES. Felt good, but development would have taken a long while, but still felt good. Seeing an SNES Maker is making me quite excited, I might actually pull it out again!

Now I have to plan a sequel, or retool and make a "small prequel" that leads to the SNES edition. And have an expanded Genesis port of the original NES one, maybe a SEGA CD presentation (they're JRPGs after all). You know what would be even funnier? If it included support for the Play-Station prototype. Because that would be the tits, too.

this is gonna be a whole new product right? like existing nesmaker users will have to buy a new license for retro game forge, i am assuming.
@rbmc19832 сағат бұрын
I'm curious about that also.
@scinestist10 сағат бұрын
really liking what I'm seeing! Intuitive interface, and I like that you get to decide your map size. I do have a big question though; When you are taking the graphics from the chr to build your tilesheet, I noticed it was grabbing them in 16X16 metatile size chunks. Is it possible to create 16X16 metatiles from 8X8 graphics pieces?
@TheNew8bitHeroes8 сағат бұрын
You’d need 4x the amount of data to do it. Trust me you can get pretty granular with 16px chunks, even if you make 8px screens
@T-Rx10 сағат бұрын
I recently tried logging in to my NESmaker. It kept saying there was an error and now I'm locked out. I think that's why I stopped using it about a year ago. I went to the license portal to double-check, but it's the same as what I used. What gives?

I have a question would this be available on an iPad And or Android? I will surely love to be able to work on an NES game or other on the go I just don't have enough time these days for everything so this would help skew or some of that time by a very large margin too. I would also love to see other types of consoles on this maybe like the Atari and all the Genesis of the super NES later be exported into an actual hardware that'd be very cool. And why stop there what about something more like in the 3D World of consoles such as the PS1 the N64 heck even the Dreamcast I don't know if that's asking for too much okay maybe not the Dreamcast but you know PS1 and 64 that would be a sight to see and that you'll be able to again export it to a actual hardware and play it on the actual hardware that seems to be the theme here or the main idea. But maybe even somewhere on the line to be able to create your own console and the game for it in that old style retro style as if you were creating it back in those days and since this always the possibility of featuring things for this application here or program then it's just a matter of time before you can go and apply this to other consoles that were the upgraded version of the ones that you made before. So instead of making your own NES games you'll be making your own Nintendo Hardwarethe game card to just for it it would play on the hardware now wouldn't that be cool I would definitely love to create my own hardware system more like a Nintendo switch type of thing creating your own Nintendo switch in a no programming software like this wouldn't that be something?

Is this going to be charged separately from nesmaker version 4.5.9?
@TheNew8bitHeroes2 сағат бұрын
Hey there - RetroGameForge is an entirely new piece of software. Even the NES component of it, as shown here, is a complete ground up rebuild. Consider it a separate thing. We anticipate some people will even utilize both for different purposes.
