I wish I would have known my Nintendo's always had different ports on them I would have loved to have used them or for storage if you know what I mean when I was a kid probably could have kept me out of a little bit of trouble lol it would have been nice to hide a little Greenery

Port 1 for the Broadband/LAN adapter was also utilized in the handful of games that offered LAN support, namely Mariokart: Double Dash. However, it likely wasnt used for games as much since most of the multiplayer games on GameCube used either basic splitscreen for most MP games, or the connecting cable for GameBoy Advance on specific titles, such as LOZ: Four Sword Adventures. One can only imagine what a Super Smash Bros. Melee with LAN support would have been like.

The 2nd port brings up an interesting question. Why would the final consumer version have a port meant only for developers?
@brianbrennaman56552 жыл бұрын
Probably for game devs Edit: spelling

They probably figured they would be sending them around the world to thousand different developers who needed access to that port. And it would most likely be more expensive for them to make two different batches with and without the port. So instead they just kept it as standard.

The second port was actually removed in later revisions, even before the DOL-101 came out and removed the Digital AV port. Maybe the early batches were intended to produce all their development units as well? This port actually can be used today by consumers for a microSD card adapter to load games through Swiss.

I used to have a beautiful black GC, but it got killed by lightning, least that's what seemed to happen, I can still thankfully play games on my Wii, if I dig it outta storage.

My gamecube shell has front two corners cracked and chipped. It's cosmetic but what are my options to find a shell replacement? It's a silver dol 001 model.

I have a GameCube and it also comes with the Gameboy base but I think it received a little bit of water damage. I had it a my mom's house in a little trailer she has in the back yard but it rained a lot a the trailer started leaking and I'm not sure how bad it got wet. I haven't had any chance to open it up. Good vid.
