Sunset riders is a brilliant 4 player game. My 11 year old son loves it and has been playing it since he was very young.

Hi Aaron, nice video. It was fun to share your excitement there. The e-waste near you seems to be an amazing place!

Don't sell it, Aaron, get a cabinet and put it in there! Or build a cabinet from scratch - what a cool episode that would be!

Cool find. Build a JAMMA cabinet for it. My brother and I collected full size arcade games in the late 90s. The most fun we had actually was not playing them but fixing them up.

I love that game. It has so much style and fun, and a bangin' soundtrack. It's neat when the first boss says "Bury me with my money."

Digitized sound comes from the 053260 which is actually a gate array which does ADPCM decoding. Its output is fed through the same YM3012 DAC as the YM2151.

I wish PA would allow e-waste stores. Closest we get are Goodwill, yard sales, and flea markets...

Fantastic find!. You need definitely need a CRT monitor for this legendary arcade game.
@letsfixsomethingathome8536 Жыл бұрын
FYI: Arcade CRT arcade monitors use an isolation transformer and are not powered by game transformer. VGA LCDs need a GBS signal converter board, and wall wart. Since game boards are old a powers supply that provides an adjustment is best as voltage at board may be compromised by oxidation.

I have two cabinets in my office and I LOVE messing around with different arcade projects. It's a nice break from the vintage mac repairs 😂

For sure. Similar but different.

Sunset Riders is one of the best games ever! IIRC it shares the same board with Simpsons, TMNT, and XMen. Also, there's some custom firmware you can load on the RGB to HDMI board you got for even better video quality.

I had a full sized Jungle Hunt video arcade game by Taito. I got it from a local bar owner who couldn't afford to fix it. so I bought it and repaired it and I rigged it so you didn't need quarters to play. Just needed to bypass the lever switch in the coin slot to achieve this. but I ran the bypass through a toggle switch on the bottom of the unit so I could actually still use as a full blown arcade game if I chose to. Unfortunately I had to get rid of it when I got layed off for a long period of time. so I gave it to the locale youth center to try to keep kids off the streets and getting into trouble. this was back in the mid 80's

coolest video I've watched in a while. What an excellent find!!! I too buy ide/sata to usb connectors when I find them. Always nice not to struggle to open a 30 year old drive without investing in a case. I would have been very excited to find such a cool board (probably would have seen the 68000, but really have gitten excited by all the Konami logos! I appreciate that should I happen to duplicate your 'right-place-right-time' scenario, I have at least one reference for how to get it up and running. And then would come the hunt for a cabinet manufacturer sympathetic to a pensioner's budget.

Yeah. I would make a cabinet for it, but I just don't have room.

Nice overview. I've recently picked up a 2player version of Sunset Riders. Great game and certainly a keeper. I like playing through it counting how much it would have cost me in the arcade as it is a bit of a coin / credit eater.

As always great video. In the Sunset game, when you see the chickens stampede, jump on the cattle to move on in the game. ❤ Ewwww Wednesday.

Yeah. I found this out when I played the game afterwards. Great game. I'm surprised I didn't play it when it was in the arcade.

28:22 Static RAM isn't able to hold the game settings after powering off (just like DRAM). Solutions for this are a battery-powered CMOS SRAM or (more modern) an EEPROM, which doesn't need a battery. My guess is that they use the small 8-pin DIP ER5911, a serial EEPROM made by Microchip, next to the test button for saving the settings.

Wow, what a great game- this definitely needs a 4 player cabinet, whether it's built or bought. Might as well go all the way with it.

This game had a very good port to the SNES and a bad one to the the Mega Drive, both being 2 player only. Now there are some programmers making an enhanced MD port which looks almost identical to the arcade and supports 3 players. But the version you have is a four player, the rarest one.
@KorAllRBare Жыл бұрын
Just a Guess, But I suspect this board relies on TTL IC's Over CMos IC's, and if I remember correctly, The CMos IC's need lower and cleaner "Less Noise" in the supply and "Signal or Data" lines, ergo why or why not the Capicitors.. WAIT! or was it the older TTL IC's that required capacitors? Oy such a long time ago I forgetz.. but I am pretty sure it's either way around..

As a first time watcher, I'm glad the algorithm recommended your video! Genuinely enjoyed it. You might be interested in looking up "GBS-C", it's an open source modification for the Chinese video boards you mentioned, it also works on your HD VC-990 as well. Apparently the upgrade rivals the OSSC in some ways for a lot less money. I've been looking into building one for my retro consoles as soon as i get the time. A link to the same board you have running the custom firmware: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHfGkohqlsmBipY
