What else should we try doing with this NAS? What do *you* use for rom storage and file management? Notes: The 10% coupon is expired, but i'm asking when there will be a new one (most likely when it launches on Amazon). Also, the specs I show at the start are for the upgraded 6/8 bay version, this one here uses the Intel 8505, 1x 10gb and 1x2.5gb network ports and no thunderbolt (you have to scroll to the very bottom of their product page to discover this).

I love it! It's very similar to my little server I built out of my old PC, but so much smaller and quieter. Could actually fit that into a console! 💚

FWIW, I have the 8 bay UGreen DXP8800 Plus model. Great hardware and as mentioned the OS (UGOS Pro) still needs some work. Last I checked USB (and Thunderbolt) pass through wasn’t yet working for docker and VM’s, which, is kind of important IMO. There is also no iSCSI support. It’s easy enough to install your own OS though if you want to go that route.

I was wondering how well it would work with ROMM and EmulatorJS? This may work for my use case because it would save me the hassle of having to worry about setting up a old computer with Casaos and have a clean looking server.

This ain't bad! It's using the same processor that was supposed to be in the base Loki. It's not that fast but does the job. The real test is video transcoding, it should be able to do that well, I'm not sure how the processor will fare. Could you do a follow up video perhaps? Emby/Jellyfin/Plex? Great review! P.S. Taki Udon II did tons of videos on that processor, gives us a good impression of it's performance for gaming and emulation.

Ah good call and insight here! Thanks. I've been using it heavily for Plex and hardware transcoding has been snappy! I'm not making a follow-up video for non retro handheld related parts of the nas, but as I find more use cases that make sense here I'll happily share my updated thoughts 🫡

I should also say that I bought 4bay+ during the Kickstarter sale. I use it for Docker Plex/Plexamp, Home Assistant, and Node-Red. Also backup my onedrive with the built in app

This is always a concern, while everything appears on the up and up here, you can also load on something like Unraid OS.
