BRAVESTARR IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SUPERHEROES BACK IN THE DAY. THANK YOU FOR POSTING. GUY. TAKE CARE AND BE SAFE.
@MONGOOSE1ful7 жыл бұрын
In this 1987 episode of "BRAVESTARR", the second of the two-part "Sherlock Holmes in the 25th Century", the voice of Moriarty is played by Jonathan Harris ("LOST IN SPACE") who has had a long history with Filmation Associates beginning in 1973 as the voice in "MY FAVORITE MARTIANS", based on the 1963-66 CBS series, and later playing "Basil Bitterbottom" in the live action "UNCLE CROC'S BLOCK" for ABC in Fall 1975, and eventually being cast as "Commander Gampu" on CBS's "SPACE ACADEMY" live action TV series in Fall 1977. Harris even played the voice in Filmation's full length animated "PINNOCHIO AND THE EMPEROR OF NIGHT" in 1987 that was released by New World Pictures.

This is one of my favorite brave star episodes. They all make a fantastic team of heroes. The Avengers, the Justice League; They would do well in either one and more.

Fun fact everyone already knows: This two-parter was going to kick off a new series featuring BraveStarr's version of Sherlock Holmes.

could this have inspired a similar show Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd century?

@@cyberstar251 a criminally under-rated series
@thewiirocks Жыл бұрын
@@DarkLiger Indeed. It's probably a good thing that this spin-off didn't work. The "steam-punk" future portrayed here really doesn't seem very far from Victorian England, despite Holmes' cries to the contrary. Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century may have been inspired by this two-parter, but it did the concept much better than Bravestarr did. The changes of the future had a very real effect on the storytelling, but in a meaningful way to tell unique stories. It would have been easy to turn everything into "the future did it". e.g. genetically modified hounds to make the danger real, thereby robbing the show of any mystery. Instead, they kept the mystery and followed the clues to produce a satisfying show. Which leads me to my other problem with this Bravestarr spin-off. There was no mystery here. Everything just fell into Holmes' lap with no agency or deduction required to get there. This made the show intellectually uninteresting, despite the Holmesian coat of paint. Compare that to 22nd Century where even when a man was turned into a gorilla, there proved to be a real mystery behind it with clues that pointed to a real culprit. Even the children's show level of a feint with an apparent gold-digger involved. Much more satisfying.

In this episode of Bravestarr about Sherlock Holmes, I mainly interest in tough and beautiful niece of the famous detective, Mycroft Holmes. She is a beautiful young lady who stands her ground and I tight blue clothes is put into it but neither escapes to the changes that women often by men. So is Mycroft Holmes carried over the shoulder as she is unconscious and, of course, tied up but again saved thanks to her uncle Sherlock.

what a shame that bravestarr and J.Belle judge never married and end of the series left many any loose ends since tex hex and stampede were never defeated and especially those of flimation never took his other characters to make crossover with Bravestar for example ghostbusters he-man and she-ra if they had at least made an episode with some of these characters with Bravestar would have been epic and to the remembrance of the following decades

I liked this episode! it was going to be a spinoff off of a new Filmations series. But Filmation went bankrupt and in the Sherlock Holmes series was bought by another animation company.

Wait. Was this a backdoor pilot for Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century?
@MezTZO8 жыл бұрын
This version aired in 1987. Filmation probably was testing to see if they could spin it off into it's own series. However, "Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century" was made by DIC long after Filmation closed. The guy behind the DIC version (Sandy Ross) said he came up with the idea in 1996, and the series finally aired in 1999; in either case it was roughly a decade after the Bravestarr version. There is no indication he knew the Filmation version existed, so it was most likely a happy coincidence.

I could put up with the ads if the poster had placed them in the pauses that were originally built into the program for them. It is just this side of irritating to have ads pop up right in the middle of action sequences the way they do in this poster's videos. I'd be much more inclined to let them play out if they were placed at the points that the program creators had made for them.
