This Is a great video and really helped me with my psp games! I would Iove a part two with more psp games. You are a very underrated youtuber and if you made a similar video on more games, I would and probably many others would appreciate it alot. Without you, I'd be dealing with so much lag right now😂

Thanks for the nice comment. Honestly most games are just variations of these settings, and in the end it takes a lot of time to set it up and create videos like this. Is there a game you want running better, or was it just a blanket request?

They've been pretty slow with shipping my Retroid Pocket 3 so far, which is kinda sus. But yeah, still waiting, and this got me wondering if one of the more difficult games to emulate, like Tony Hawk's Underground 2 would work. I've found it pretty difficult to run smoothly on most phones and tablets. But it's great to see a lot of other games are working nicely.

Wish you'd have mentioned that earlier, the worst we had was killzone followed by God of war, but I think these play poorly due to inefficient programming. God of war for example tries to render as many FPS as it can, rather than only 30 or 60 which makes it slug on a multitude of systems

I would love to see a more in depth comparison of the size between the PSP and th RP3. Most reviewers I have seen only compared it to the Switch or other retro handhelds. Only one or two have even compared it to the Vita. And I think the beginning of this video is the first time I have seen anyone even put the the PSP in the same frame as the RP3.

I have loved keeping track of retro handheld hardware because they're such cool little machines but there was always some tradeoff that kept me from getting one. Like I loved the 351p's size, layout, and design but ultimately the ceiling was too low on its power level for me. The RP3 has me interested largely in part because of the premise of this video. Which is that it is basically a PSP+. Like, the Odin Pro is an impressive piece of hardware, but I am not interested in carrying around a handheld that is that large. PSP has always been my favorite handheld' so I really like the similarities between the PSP and RP3. I agree with you that it's crazy more reviewers aren't emphasizing the similarities.

It's probably what I'll leave this as tbh. Works as a solid replacement. May have to revisit this in a video at a later date, but it depends... I think too many have bought into the idea that rp3 = poor psp, which we've clearly proved wrong in this video. Thanks for commenting btw ☺️

That's where we see hardware companies up their game, and we need more of this. What taki did is pretty much sabotage. He used insider knowledge, then shared it to his large audience stating that they might be selling faulty parts... It's an incredibly irresponsible move, there's no denying it.

Would you be able to extract your configuration file(s) for the PPSSPP and have a download link somewhere? Love this but manually setting up configurations is a pain (cause I'm lazy). JRPGs should run fine. I had Persona 3 Portable and Crisis Core running.

I have to wonder if im a weirdo on my game library because i never see more than the persona 3 portable in common with these things! I know some of them arent very demanding and food for the videos, but where's the tales of the world, final fantasy tactics, ff:dissidia, or armored core love? We usually show FFTactics in most, if not ALL of our handheld review videos. It's one of the best RPG / Strategy games ever made. You also need to realize that this is a long enough video as is, and we can't possibly go through the settings of every PSP title. If this gets enough traction we may make another with more games though. :-)

With the current version on PPSSPP (today is 1-1-2023) you can play Outrun 2006 in OpenGL and goes even better than Vulkan at 2x BUT .... both in Vulkan and OpenGL i tg has glitches I can't fix whatever I do. Any help?

I was trying to use this to set up ppsspp for my system but it looks like the graphics settings menu has changed enough that some sections have more or less options. Would there be somewhere to look woth the current settings menus available to keep setti gs the same?

There have been some changes to the newer versions of ppsspp, but most are a simple name swap. Check their wiki / faqs or the libretro ppsspp page, they have the settings there too.

I'm specifically curious about Killzone Liberation. That's always been a difficult one for me to run. Also, can you play the extra fifth chapter on PPSSPP? This video makes me want to get a RP3, I'm a big psp fanatic

Killzone has issues with the PPSSPP emulator itself, as does God of War- they both won't run 100% without frameskip or any form of fiddling.

The RK3399 Devices and the GPD XD+ should be able to pull this off too. It's too bad the RK3399 wasn't designed for handhelds.

Being designed for handheld or not, devices that use those chipsets are a LOT more expensive than the RP3.

@@TeamPandory I know this, the RG552 is way too expensive but not RK3399 SBC's like the Rock Pi 4. The GPD XD+ was the first handheld to do PSP, N64, Dreamcast, Naomi, and Sega Saturn emulation at full speed. The GPD XD+ for the time it originally came out was priced reasonably because no other handhelds like it existed at the time. The GPD XP+ is now the new GPD XD+. Now better and more affordable options exist now so the GPD XD+ is virtually obsolete. However the performance is still nearly on par with the RP2+ and RP3.

In the controls setting, have one button set to PAUSE. That will then bring up the ppsspp menu.

By default, GOW wants to render as many frames as possible, then gets clipped to 60fps. The "cheat" makes the game only want to render 30 or 60, which speeds things up. There are other "cheats" that you can use that put MGS to 60fps, but it speeds up the game with it.

Best psp game? Outrun2006. Covered. Killzone liberation has issues with ppsspp. There's no current fix at the moment, and needs unnecessarily far more grunt to play.

And using these settings I'm pretty sure you'd be able to get most of the psp library running at a good speed.
