RetroN 1 HD console (Play NES games in HD) Unboxing and Review

Just bought one of these so my wife can play Tetris. We have an original NES but the HDMI converter has some latency issues and is pretty much unplayable past level 12 or so and she's usually able to play up to 19 or 20. Should be here on Sunday. Thanks for the review!

is the cartridge supposed to be wiggling a little, or should it lock in? I'm only getting no signal, or a blue or green screen when on my crt.

I tried mine again and the cartridge does wiggle a little but it's firm enough that it's actually hard to take out. If you haven't used that unit successfully before you may want to send it back and get another one. I assume with these cheaper units that the quality control just isn't as good, so you either get a unit that works fine or you get a lemon. But make sure to try with a few different games before you decide to send it back.

A NES Everdrive cartridge works in this kind of console?

I have a really strange problem with this console. My TV takes a while to receive the Audio signal from this console. I have to wait a full 2 minutes before the audio comes through on my tv via HDMI. This console is the only one I have that problem with. Other HDMI screens don't have the problem.

hmmm that's not a problem mine has. Maybe that specific unit has a small defect. If you can still return it or exchange it, I would suggest it. The consoles are cool but I get a sense that there isn't a lot of quality control.

@@gamatroid I don't think it's the consoles fault to be honest. When hooking it up to other screens, including tv's from the same brand and production line, it doesn not have this issue. Rather my tv being a bit weird?

why is the shadow of the turtles green? shadows are black.

the shadows are actually green in the original NES version as well, but the green tone is darker so it's harder to tell

oh man that sucks. probably limited quality control on the products. either it works well or you get a lemon :(

yeah it's a little off but in general it's a really easy way to play NES games on a modern TV
