Large crystals within the structure (caused by rapid cooling) give less opportunity for each one to come apart and you end up with a harder material. Cooling slowly allows crystals to propagate meaning there are far more opportunities for each crystal to come apart, softer or more easily breakable material. This is why, if you need to harden steel without changing its alloy composition, cold quenching is one way to do it. Cryo-cooling is used for extreme applications such as steels used in pin sharp blades.

€330k, but TBH this is a good example of where Retro power screwed up. The Stratos is a ListerBell kit who took months/years to do their bit. Engine options are Ferrari V6, 328 V8, Bussi, Toyota V6. The supercharging of a Busso took a year to do and still is not right. Most LB Stratos use the Toyota V6 with a supercharger ala. lotus Evora. So now after 3 years or more it's with the customer and it's failed to be fun.

You also have project creep, the ListerBell kit is built for £40-65k and they sell it on being a kit car without the quirks. Not a Hawk you build in a shed. Should they have gone as deep into making it different, the keypad switches, Supercharging a 30 year old Alfa V6, 3D printing tail lights after 3 years etc, etc. Should they have spent more time at the start pinning down a price, look or target, rather than coming to a component and then going back and forth rendering stuff at that time. The clients love the relationship of you sending them 3 shades of leather for the handbrake. But this is the result. A very flowery version of what is a simple car.

The newly qualified tradesman took his skills and "journeyed" through his chosen trade, presenting himself to prospective employers as a time - served, skilled man. But - believe me, that's only the beginning. It's a bit like getting your driving licence. You achieve a standard of competence and qualify to drive unaccompanied. But thereafter, you "really" learn to drive! Stay safe and well.
