SHINee helped set so many trends. Colorful skinny jeans? SHINee and SNSD. Rookie grand slam? SHINee. SM sent them to new variety shows first to see how the show was before sending other groups. RDD was also a ‘banned’ song during exam times because of how catchy it was. They are so well respected by their jrs and in general. They helped to break the idea that idol dancers weren’t real dancers, which to an extent still exists to some extent in Korea but Taemin and SHINee as a whole are respected as dancers. And even now they are highly sought after for brands because anything they touch turns to gold. They have been known as the princes of kpop for basically their entire career.

I'm a Jonghyun bias. His death, for me, was traumatic. It took me over 2 years before I could listen to a SHINee song again. Some of their songs are still too difficult for me to go back to. I'm so beyond proud of these absolute Kings.

Definitely same for me. I am a Jonghyun Bias and it took awhile after there comeback for me to not cry when I listened to older songs. Even know if I really stop and thoroughly listen to replay by words I cry but if I. Just randomly letting it play I am okay. Watching him react to SHINee I couldn't help but smile. I love seeing younger gens react to OG groups with the same respect that they have for younger gen groups and realize that they helped pave the way for the groups they already love. If I could I would definitely request a SHINee marathon MVs as well as lives. They have a ton of good ones but honestly no matter which you pick you can not go wrong. also in Replay the vocals that you were referring to was indeed Jonghyun. I would also be open to a marathon for him as well even though it may make me emotional.

I was introduced to SHINee via Taemin's Advice, then went down the rabbit hole. When I hear Jonghyun sing, or see him in videos, its like a stab to the heart that he's no longer here, and to know the pain that he endured for so long makes me so very sad. I can't even imagine what it must be like for y'all who knew his work, and loved him before that. What a beautiful human, no ANGEL, that we lost too soon.

SHINee's "Replay" isn't just nostalgic, it's legendary. And SHINee are legends. Every new rookie group in the industry has covered "Replay" at least once in their career and it's one of those songs that is pretty much compulsory for everyone to know and learn, even still today. The Noona (the older girl SHINee have a crush on that they are singing to) in the "Replay" MV is the leader of their sister group***, Victoria from F(x). This MV came out more than a year before F(X) debuted so this was Victoria even before debut. (Funny thing is, Victoria is native Chinese and she says she was still learning Korean during this time and she could barely even say SHINee.) Victoria was so perfect in this role because she is a few years older than any of the SHINee members so she fit well as the lead actress in this MV. As the song says, 'Noona neomu yeppeo .... replay, replay, replay ...." In other words they are saying "pretty older woman I really like you and I think you like me too ... every time I see you I need a replay of the moment over and over again in my head." Noona neomu yeppeo is a Korean term that essentially means "Pretty older woman" Noona neomu yeppeo is a term that is only used by guys to describe a beautiful woman that is older than them. There really isn't a literal translation of the term so that is why the song is called "Replay" in English. But in Korean it is called "Noona neomu yeppeo." That's why if you watch SHINee on a lot of variety shows and TV programs, the older women in the show often ask SHINee to sing this song to them. ***** SHINee and F(x) are both SM Entertainment groups, they debuted within a year of each other, they both are 5 member groups (Now 4 member groups ;( ) and they have similar music styles and concepts, etc. F(x) is pretty much the female version of SHINee. SM launched its first KZbin channel named sment, in 2006, so Kpop has been using KZbin for at least that long. However, SM rebranded itself and started its new KZbin channel in 2011 and reuploaded most of their older videos at that time. So their older MVs and content have a 2011 date but, like "Replay," they actually may be from much earlier. "Replay" is literally considered one of the best debut songs of all time for any Kpop artist because it's so timeless and it never goes out of style or sounds outdated no matter how old it gets. And this is why SHINee are Icons. This song makes all the women swoon. You just witnessed baby SHINee and were already blown away, just imagine what it will be like as you go through their discography and MVs. They have 13 full-length albums (7 Korean albums and 6 Japanese albums), several repackaged albums, a multitude of mini albums, numerous OSTS, they each have solo songs and albums and there are hundreds of live performances that will absolutely leave you speechless with their talent. And it only gets more and more impressive as you follow them through their career. They have accomplished a lot in the past 13+ years and they are one of the groups that made Kpop what it is today. SHINee are one of the most iconic and influential groups as trendsetters. This song was way ahead of its time when it first came out. SHINee are known for never being afraid to experiment with their style and sound in a song and for the fact that no two songs of theirs will EVER be the same even on the same album. SHINee are always setting trends, never following them. As SM's experimental boy group, NOTHING you hear from SHINee will ever sound the same, and, yet, somehow it will always sound like SHINee. So this shows just how talented even as teenagers SHINee were. If you want to see where SHINee truly shines you have to watch their live concert performances. Fun fact: SM originally wanted to make SHINee a hip-hop group. Hip-hop was the style of music that was really popular when they debuted. That's why Key and Minho are both rappers and how Taemin started out as a popper in dance. But as Key tells it, they just didn't have the swag to pull of hip-hop, so right before their debut SM switched up their sound and style to something that fit them better and they came up with the signature classic SHINee R&B vocals they are now known for. I, for one, am so glad they debuted with their signature R&B style. I can't imagine the world if we never knew the amazing vocals and sound that is SHINee today. Things would be so different. So SHINee are part of the second generation of Kpop and yet the members are younger than most everyone in their generation and are the same age or even younger than some members of groups who came after them, such as EXO and BTS, etc., which are part of Kpop's third generation. SHINee debuted young and have the experience of seasoned veterans. It just goes to show you why they are legends in the industry. When SHINee debuted Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14, so now they are all in their late 20s and early 30s. (Onew just turned 32 in December.) SHINee are some of the most well respected artists in the industry. Onew (Pronounced Oh-New, real name Lee JinKi) -- the one in the hat -- is the leader of the group and he has one of the most unique and best voices in the industry. (Onew means, or sounds like, the Korean words for soft or gentle, so he was given his stage name because he has a very calm and gentle personality.) His vocals are unmatched. He even holds the record (40+ seconds) for the longest continuous note without changing tone or pitch, etc. Jonghyun -- the one with the headphones that you see first -- is known as one of the best vocalist in Kpop who was one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. Jonghyun wrote and composed almost 40% of SHINee's songs, plus he wrote all of his own solo songs and numerous songs for other artists, such as EXO's "Playboy" and songs for Taemin, IU and Lee HI, etc. He was one of the only SM artists to be given complete artistic control over his work, including several of SHINee's song selections. SM knew that if Jonghyun was involved in any way that the song would be a hit. He was extremely respected within the industry as a songwriter, composer and singer. He was one of the very first Idols to be known for this songwriting and composing skills, and he was the first of SM's artists to have a fully self-wrote album. As the main vocalist, Jonghyun is the one you hear with all the amazing high notes and R&B runs and ad libs most of the time. Key -- the one in green -- is our fashionista of the group who is SHINee's stylist for a lot of their MVs and stage outfits. SHINee are known for setting trends and never being afraid to experiment with their sound or look, so Key is known for really paying attention to detail when it comes to fashion. He is known for always being unique and wanting to stand out. He is an amazing singer and is a sub-rapper in the group. He is also known as SHINee's dance copy machine. Key has the ability to see and remember choreography the fastest in the group. He only needs to watch the dance once and he has it memorized. He is also SHINee's fluent English speaker, and he is almost as good as a native speaker. Minho -- the one playing basketball -- is the main rapper and visual of the group, but his vocals are also some of the best in the industry. Minho sings just as much as he raps. He also writes most of his own raps in SHINee's songs. Minho is one of the top actors in the industry and he has starred in numerous dramas and movies. Minho is also known as a top athlete. He says these days he goes to the gym a couple of times a day to work out just because he likes to work out, but he is also crazy about soccer, and he plays basketball, baseball and golf, and he is good at track and field events, etc., as well. And not only does he enjoy playing all those sports, but he is usually the best athlete on the field and he pretty much wins every time. There is a reason why Minho's nickname is "Flaming Charisma," and one reason is for his intense passion for sports and his need to always win. Taemin -- the one in yellow -- is considered one of THE BEST dancers in the industry, and that's not just by fans but by everyone in the industry, including his peers. Taemin's nickname is the Korean Michael Jackson. As you can see by their "Replay" MV, even at 14, Taemin was one of the best dancers in the industry, and you will soon discover with the more that you watch from SHINee and Taemin's solo work, that he has only gotten more magnificent over the years. Taemin is also one of the most popular solo artists in the industry and he is a member of the Kpop supergroup SuperM. Taemin truly is art when it comes to his performances. SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They are a group of 5 amazing vocalists, 5 impressive dancers, 5 visuals, 5 rappers, 5 top actors, and 5 of the most talented and unique voices in all of Kpop. Once you get to know their voices you will always be able to pick them out of a crowd just by the sound of their voice. As a SHINee World -- what SHINee's fans are known as -- or Shawol for short (pronounced like shy-wall), I can tell who is speaking or singing within 1 second even with my eyes closed with them standing in a crowd of screaming fans. Each of their voices are that unique -- there is no one with a voice like any of theirs. That is why they are "The Princes of Kpop".

The way you talk about jonghyun's voice feeling safe is such a beautiful way to put it. I've been a shawol for 7 years and I'm always SO excited to see people react to them for the first time. It reminds me of when I first discovered them and how much I've seen them grow. I love how much you appreciate and understand them! When they first came back in 2018 after Jonghyun passed it was extremely difficult for me to even watch the music videos. Everything to do with SHINee was just too painful for me to fully enjoy. However their 2021 comeback with Don't Call Me and Atlantis was almost like a reset, the pain had healed enough for me to immerse myself into the music and all the comeback activities. It was extremely exciting and honestly brought me back to the old days getting excited for a SHINee comeback. Honestly I just feel so proud of them and full of love when I watch them.

I've been a shawol since 2013, and what happened to Jonghyun was heartbreaking for so many people, but for SHINee members it was certainly a nightmare. For a group created from scratch like other idol groups, through the years they build a solid friendship and now consider themselves as a family, their bond is so strong and rare. So I was really worried for the member's well-being. But then only 6 months later SHINee had a comeback with "Good Evening". You can interpret in many ways this song and this whole concept, but many think this was their homage and goodbye to Jonghyun, and a promise to stick together and go on. And so they did, they kept going, and when Don't Call Me dropped it was like a "regular" comeback, the old SHINee wich each time try a new concept but keep their unique flavor. Don't get me wrong, I miss Jonghyun SO much but we know we can't have him back. But SHINee is still able to do what they love and offer amazing songs. My main feeling was "I'm so proud to be a shawol, to support this talented group with such a strong will to pursue their dreams despite everything". As artist they influenced greatly the kpop we know to this day, and as a person they're looked up by many many people. Why SHINee is legendary? Because they can tackle any concept, their music style was often experimental giving us interesting sounds, you wont get bored with them. Powerhouse vocalist here! Mainly Jonghyun and Onew, but through the years how Taemin and Key improved is kinda insane, but what SHINee does best is harmonising. Their entire discography is fire, bsides are insanely good. Their stage presence is incredible, vocals so stable they got the nickname CDNee because they sound exactly or better than the studio version. Talent over talent sprinkle with talent, that's SHINee for you. As a group like I said they're really close, together they're naturally hilarious, they don't hold back, quite chaotic. By the way there is a group which reminds me alot of SHINee, it's NCT Dream, so if you love their dynamics you'll love SHINee for sure! Finally I want to to thank you for discovering SHINee, beside what happened they deserve to be known by the new generation of kpop fans !

Just wait till you see their live performances. SHINee is absurd in the best possible way. You're not prepared, and I'm happy about that :). Subscribed. Can't wait for you to dive in further with them. As for your other question...about what it felt like when Atlantis and Don't Call Me came out. There is always some pain, missing Jonghyun. But, Overall, all I care about is that SHINee is healthy, happy when they can be, and doing what they love or want to do. I was happy beyond words that they were performing together again. Every time they bring us new music, it makes me feel like the world is right and perfect for a moment. As cheesy as that may sound. They put all their effort in, and are incredibly talented and hardworking. Their music makes me feel like the luckiest person, but all that matters to me is that they are okay and doing what they want to do. So if they decided to stop making music tomorrow, the world would lose a lot, but if that's what SHINee wants then that's what I want. Can't really describe how important they are as individual humans in this world to me.

KZbin algorithm brought me here today and as a fan of SHINee from literally before their debut (seriously, SM dropped their profiles online put of nowhere like 3 days before their debut, and I was instantly charmed by them) who has literally watched them grow up, it's always fun seeing people discover them for the first time. To answer your question, about how it felt for long term fans when DCM dropped, it was simultaneously very emotional and also like putting on a pair of beloved, comfortable shoes with a banging new outfit. SHINee comebacks are always like the latter part of that vibe because they're always pushing boundaries musically, but with the consistent through-line of their distinctive vocals and quality harmonies that links their varied discography together. Emotional because to have that feeling again after everything with Jonghyun and three of them being in the military simultaneously felt like coming home when I wasn't sure I would again. It was almost a relief! SHINee slap, have fun going through the mountain of work that is their discography as a group, and as individuals!

With "Don't Call Me," SHINee are just doing what we longtime fans have all come to expect from them -- showing us something that has never been seen or heard before and starting a new trend. Every song you hear and every choreography you see from them should be like nothing they have ever done. They are supposed to reinvent the industry with every comeback. That is why they are constantly raising the bar with everything they do. When it comes to SHINee, it should always feel "very different." That's what makes them SHINee. :D With every new song release, SHINee are expected to come out with a style and sound that is brand new, not only for them, but in the industry as a whole. And "Don't Call Me" is a perfect example of that. When someone who is new to SHINee says "this doesn't sound anything like what I would expected from SHINee," or "I wonder if this will be like any of the previous songs I have heard from them," etc., we Shawols just shake our heads. LOL. The fact that it is unlike anything they have ever done before, is exactly what makes it a SHINee song. SHINee's whole concept is that they are an experimental group, so NOTHING they do will be similar to anything you have seen or heard from them in the past and it will be like nothing you ever hear from them in the future. The only thing you can ever anticipate when it comes to SHINee is that it will be unique and amazing and probably one of the best performances you have ever seen. That is why they are one of the most iconic and influential groups. They are always setting trends, never following them. SHINee where designed to be SM Entertainment's contemporary, experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend. With every new song SHINee produces, it will always be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from them in any of their songs. Not even any of their songs on the same album will be similar, and yet somehow they still always fit well together and create a very cohesive package. What you just experienced is exactly what makes SHINee legends. And this is the reason why they are so highly respected, and why almost everyone in the industry who came after them cites them as one of their biggest influences and one of the reasons why they wanted to become a singer and dancer, etc. And I literally mean everyone. Appreciate Minho's red hair while you can. There has only been a handful of times in the past 13 years that Minho has ever dyed his hair any other color besides brown or auburn, and when he does he only keeps it that way for a few week. :D Minho is a lead actor in a lot of K-dramas and movies and when not promoting with SHINee he is almost always working on his next TV or movie project. So, one of the reasons why I think he doesn't dye his hair as often as other idols, is because of his acting roles. The majority of the roles that he plays are boy next door-type characters or historical dramas, etc. so he needs to look as average as he can. (Or, at least as average as a guy who was born with model good look anyway ;D) Case in point, he literally dyed his hair for the MV and then dyed it back brown because he was filming a drama, and then he dyed it red again when they started their comeback activities, all within the span of a couple of weeks. Fun fact: Did you notice the aqua blue/teal accents that SHINee wore with those brown outfits in the MV? Pearl aqua is SHINee's fan color, so they incorporated the color into their outfits by, for example, weaving the aqua yarn into Key's sweater and dying the collar of Onew's jacket aqua, etc. :D As the fashionista of the group Key -- the one with the feather headpiece -- collaborates with their stylists to come up with the concepts and styles for a lot of their MVs and concerts. So the outfits they wore in this MV, Key had a hand in creating. That is why SM has given Key the official title as SM's director of fashion. Oh honey, you got a big storm coming! SHINee have been my absolute ultimate group since 2008. Almost 14 years of stanning and they have never let me down. The Don't Call Me comeback, for me, was honestly euphoric. We'd been without the group as a whole for over two years (though Taemin upheld the SHINee name splendidly whilst his brothers were in the military) so to have them back together again, was incredibly emotional, but so so so lovely to see. You could tell it was for them too, especially Taemin, who had missed his members so much. His smile when he's with them is on another level. They're a very close group, who are never afraid to say how much they love each other and consider each other family, so it's always a blessing to see them together. I'm sure everyone else will say the same, but you really should react to more SHINee, especially their live performances. They are known for being absolutely phenomenonal live. Also, you got a little taste with the MV's you watched, but, they're a group that doesn't shy away from experimenting with different genres (and absolutely killing it). They're known as trendsetters, because most new genres or styles they try, end up being trends, or norms within the industry. They're not reffered to as the idols of idols for nothing! SHINee will celebrate They're 14 year anniversary this May 25th, and they themselves have said they have no intention of stopping any time soon. We may have to wait a little while before Taemin is back from the military, and SHINee are together again, but, fortunately for us, SHINee is made up of 5 members who are amazing soloists too (every member has absolutely amazing solo work. Key recently released his first mini album, Minho, a digital single, and Onew is set to have a comeback very soon!) So we have plenty more content to look forward to from them until then.

SHINee are known as one of the best vocal groups in the whole Kpop industry. They are legends for their live vocals and amazing dancing. The ONLY thing SHINee is not good at is lip syncing, so they have specifically trained since their debut, to build stamina and endurance, in order to be able to sing live for 3+ hours straight and always sound flawless while performing these intense choreographies. It may be shocking because they sound so flawless even though they are dancing so intensely, but that is why they are such legends and why they are so highly respected in the industry. SHINee are referred to as CDINee or CD-eaters, because they sound even better live then they do in their studio recordings. It is a running joke between fans and the members that you can tell when SHINee are lip syncing because they are so bad at it, that is why they avoid it at all costs. So when you hear SHINee sing, 95% of the time it will be live. (If you ask any of the members, what is something you are not good at? One of the very first things they will say is, "I am horrible at lip syncing." -- I have heard the members say this multiple times with my own ears.) Yes, over the years they have become better at lip syncing then they used to be, but now they have gained the reputation as the group that always sings live, so unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, what you will hear is live vocals. Other Idols and audio sound technicians, etc. who have witnessed SHINee performing live are always blown away, because in the parts of the song where most singers would take a break and rely on the backing track vocals to cover their voices so they can catch their breath and recover, this is where the SHINee members actually ramp it up and become their most powerful. I guarantee, that if you were to listen to them singing a cappella while performing some of their most intense choreographies, they would sound just as flawless. That is why, even as rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee's rehearsals on music programs because SHINee's vocal talent is that impressive. When SHINee debuted they were the first group to demonstrate how it was possible to sing live while performing intense choreography and still maintain stable vocals. Before SHINee, the thought within the industry was that it wasn't possible to sing live and also perform high intensity choreography at the same time. At that time, most groups would either sing live and have simple choreography, or they would have crazy cool choreography but lip sync to their recorded vocals. SHINee was the group that changed the industry and proved that if you wanted to compete you needed to up your game. SHINee live is unmatched and it's literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard that all other groups strive to reach and SHINee are the vocalists that all other artists try to emulate. You really need to check out some of their live concert performances because their stages are like none other. Their concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform nonstop and never sound out of tune or out of breath. They are also one of the best dancers in Kpop and they have some of the best harmonies you will ever hear. Nothing compares to SHINee live. Their MVs are good, but those same songs sung live in concert are on a whole other level. SHINee are so influential that the industry looks to them to show everyone what the next song style and dance trend will be. And it is said that within 3 months of SHINee releasing their new song and choreography, you will see that same sound and style being duplicated across the industry with every comeback to follow from both boy groups and girl groups. When SHINee does something the industry takes note and follows suit. SHINee has started the trend with almost everything -- with every one of their songs to their dances to clothing trends, to live performances, to the way Kpop is promoted -- there is almost nothing that can't be attributed to something SHINee has been involved in. If you like their dancing, you should check out SHINee's "Replay" dance practice, kzbin.info/www/bejne/naeZYaGIaMRpb7c. It's not an official dance practice video because dance practice videos didn't become a thing until 2010 when SHINee released the industry's very first dance practice video with their song "Lucifer," but it is a real dance practice video from way back to SHINee's debut days. SHINee were literally the first group to ever release a dance practice video specifically for fans to watch and they are the reason why Kpop groups produce dance practice/choreography videos today. SHINee is pronounced like Shiny -- as in shiny stars or Shiny diamonds -- because they are so magnificent that they need a double ee to show just how brilliant they shine. They SHINe(e) like the sparkling performers that they are. That is also why their symbol is a diamond.

Man, I’ve been in the K-pop scene since 09 so I grew up with such amazing groups and I must say, nothing has hit the same since that era. 2nd gen and 3rd gen were great. Seeing them comeback after a while was sooo bittersweet. Finally getting to see the four of them back together just to send off Taemin for 2 more years. It’s wild though, because no matter the passage of time, they’re still big and highly respected and it feels like no time has really passed. And I love seeing reactors indulge and appreciate the older generations. It’s different maybe sometimes cringey, but it was a great time. Big SM Stan though haha

How I interpret the story in SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong" is, the song is about a sort of love at first sight and thoughts of that person keep ringing through your head, so much so that you start to become obsessed with them. It's more than just protecting the girl or your love, but it's about wanting to have her all to yourself and not allowing anyone else to come between you, etc. (As the English part of the lyrics says, "Fantastic, elastic ..." because thoughts of that person are constantly bouncing around in your head.) In the MV: If you notice, at one point, you see all the members dressed in white and they are standing in an all white room looking into the mirror. However, the image they see in the mirror is not their reflection, but what seems to be their alter ego or inner self because you see their mirror images with brooding expressions and they have wings. But their wings are not white like an angel who is pure and good, they are grey like angels of darkness. So, maybe this is showing how their thoughts are not a pure and innocent love, but one of passion and possession, etc. You see them in the white room with the white clothes because I see that as showing how they are hiding their true selves -- on the outside people think they look innocent and pure, but once you get to know them they have far less pure intentions. When in their black and red outfits this is more their true selves. The only explanation I can see as to why they are shown lighting the candles without even touching them is a way to make it clear that they are different then what they seem and they may have "magical powers" that can be used to attract the girl and make her theirs, etc. I interpret the butterfly they talk about in the lyrics, and the one you see them with in the MV, to represent the girl and how she is beautiful, and fragel and flits around in their life attracting them and distracting them, etc and they want to capture her and make her theirs. It is also thought that maybe SM is now using the butterfly to connect the storylines between their groups. Some theories think that maybe SHINee's butterfly is connected to the butterfly we see in EXO's debut "Mama" MVs, which could also be connected to NingNing's butterfly in aespa's storyline, and it could even be connected to the butterfly in NCT-127's "Favorite (Vampire)" MV, etc. The butterfly is thought to possibly represent the heart of the Tree of Life, which would help to connect all of SM's groups' storylines together. Although SHINee's storyline my not have originally been designed to connect to anything outside of their group, I think SM has been using things from their older groups' MVs as "happy coincidences" in order to draw everyone into their SM Culture Universe storyline. Beyond that, I don't really have an explanation of anything else that is happening in the "Ring Ding Dong" MV. Most of it I interpret as just part of the aesthetic of what was the new cool think and what they were doing with MVs in 2009. The boys' hair and clothing styles and the aesthetic of the MV was supposed to give them more of a bad boy image, to sort of contrast the fact that when they debuted with "Replay" they had a boy next door image and they were given the title as the nation's younger boyfriends -- people had a pure and wholesome image of them -- so they wanted to show that as SM's experimental boy group, people should never expect them to stay the same. SHINee will forever be changing up their image to show many different sides of themselves and all different styles of music and dance. "Ring Ding Dong" was showing a new side of SHINee. This was only SHINee's second comeback after debut, so it established their role as the ever changing and evolving group that was expected to keep setting trends and coming up with new concepts, styles and sounds. Everything SHINee does is tendsetting and slightly ahead of its time because of their experimental concept. They are the ones that set the trends when it comes to the next music style and dance trend and they are known for their numerous fashion and style trends. With everything SHINee does they are expected to be the first and to show the industry the next direction to take. Fashion designers have always coveted a chance to work with SHINee as a group, or even the individual members, because they know that if SHINee wears it then it will become the next big fashion trend. That is how much influence SHINee has in all aspects of the entertainment and fashion industry. Fun Fact: Minho's long hair and Jonghyun's "Lion" hairstyle in "Ring Ding Dong" is such an iconic look. But Minho always hated this hairstyle, LOL. He has never liked having long hair. He begged SM to allow him to cut his hair and it took a few weeks before they would let him do it. They made him wait until they were done promoting for this album because their hairstyles were part of the album's concept. And therefore, Minho has refused to ever grow his hair out again. ;P Also, almost all of SM's boy groups had similar hairstyles during this time period. :D Take a look at Super Junior or TVXQ in 2009. Their hair looked like this too. hehehe. This was just sort of the look for Korean entertainers back in the day. SHINee were setting tends even with their hair. As you discovered, "Ring Ding Dong," is one of SHINee's most popular songs. This is totally the look and sound that was just becoming the new it thing back then. As others may have mentioned, "Ring Ding Dong" is such an iconic song and it's so catchy that it has been said that in Korea this song is banned from being played anywhere or listened to during college entrance exam time. When it first came out students complained that the song would get stuck in their heads and they couldn't concentrate on their studies or on the test. :D This is also one of SHINee's iconic choreographies and it is one of the dances that every rookie group in the industry, both boy groups and girl groups, are required to learn and know, and most have covered the song and dance at least once in their career even still today. If you want to hear the song without the auto tune then you need to hear them perform it live in concert. Try their live MBC music festival performance of "Ring Ding Dong" in 2016, kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZ28pqWlmLGjn5o. SHINee's songs are always way different performed live. You will see how SHINee has grown. This song is part of the era when auto tune was brand new and it was the new cool thing that everyone was using in their new songs. SHINee was ahead of their time when this song came out and it blew people away for its sound and style, which many had never heard before. :D

Atlantis is a mythical city that is part of a story within Greek mythology, referring to the Lost City of Atlantis. The story of Atlantis is most often depicted as a utopian society on an island that became submerged and lost in the middle of the ocean. SHINee's MV is referencing the lost city of Atlantis, so as you can see, it's supposed to look like they are visiting Atlantis at the bottom of the sea. The whole MV is a reference to the story of Atlantis, which is why you see them selling seafood and why they are underwater, etc. As I interpret the MV, the convenience store is a cover for the fact that it sits on top of a portal to the city of Atlantis. To the average person, the store just looks like a regular store, but if you are in on the secret you know that if you head to the storage room or basement, etc. you will find a magical elevator/submarine that will take you to "Atlantis." I think that move in the choreography where Key and Minho make the circle is them gathering all their power and love and they are blasting it all to the fans (Shawols) or they are sending all their love to the girl who they are singing about in the song, etc. Like a superhero who is summoning all their powers. Because the SHINee members are sort of supposed to have power as the keepers of the portal to "Atlantis," etc. Plus, if I had to guess, it also might be something linking SHINee to SM's Universe. Most of SM's groups' storylines are connected in some way and they are all part of one big story. Also, if you notice the soda can that just seems to appear in Key's had in "Atlantis," it is now thought that that is the same can we see in Key's solo "Hate That ..." MV, and it's SM's way of connecting the storylines between their solo content and group content, as well as connecting the storyline to SM's Culture Universe larger storyline. Because Minho writes all his own rap sections in SHINee's songs they are all very meaningful, and are strategically placed in the song for a reason. If you pay attention to his lyrics you will see they have a lot of deep meaning and they enhance the story and add more depth to the song. For example, the long sss sound you hear at the end of his rap lines in "Atlantis" are supposed to mimic the sound of waves as they crash on shore or against the rocks, etc. Minho is actually quite poetic when it comes to his songwriting. You should check out the behind the scenes MV shoot for "Atlantis", kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJ-Zop6Jg9eib6M, to really see how detailed everything in the MV was. Fun fact: Although all the aqua blue you see in this MV is supposed to represent water and the city of Atlantis, because SHINee's fan color is pearl aqua, all the aqua blue and green colors you see in the MV also represent SHINee as a group and their connection to their fans. Also, SHINee will forever be a group of 5, so, they always make sure to include Jonghyun, in everything they do. So, if you notice the MNet date in the bottom left corner in the opening scene of the MV, it says April 8, which is Jonghyun's birthday. And if you pay attention to the choreography when the members put their arms on each others' shoulders, you see Taemin stretches his arm out as if he is resting it on an invisible person next to him, which is thought to be a nod to the fact that this is where Jonghyun would be, and even in other parts of the choreography they leave a wide gap in the middle which fans also think was done as a reference to Jonghyun's spot in the group. (Jonghyun always was the center position whenever the members lined up next to each other.) Yes, all the members of SHINee have amazing high note abilities. Even Minho, who is the main rapper and has the deepest voice out of all of them, has been known to hit some impressive high notes on occasion. That is what makes SHINee so outstanding and why they are so highly respected in the industry. They are idols' idols and legends of legends for a reason. "Don't Call Me" and "Atlantis" are SHINee's most recent releases that both came out in 2021. "Atlantis" was the title track on SHINee's Atlantis album which was their repackaged album as a follow up to their Don't Call Me album. These were highly anticipated comebacks because it was the first activities that the members were involved in again after being on hiatus for almost 3 years while Onew, Key and Minho served their mandatory 18 months in the South Korean military. And now that Taemin enlisted May 30, it will be at least until November before we SHINee all back together again.

Because Taemin is also a member of SuperM, I think SHINee's "Don't Call Me" MV and Fake Reality teaser is SM Entertainment's way of drawing SHINee into the SM Universe and fully connecting SHINee to SuperM's/EXO's storyline. Hence, Minho's red hair and the red room with the chairs hanging from the ceiling. I think this might be connected in someway to the Red Force and EXO's/SuperM's storyline. As with everything that SM does, it's been designed to all connect. All of SM's groups' concepts and MV storylines connect together and it's all part of one giant Universe and story that started in 2012 with EXO's debut. To understand how all of SM's groups are connected, you first need to keep in mind that it all began with EXO's origin story. As I think you know, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo who have been sent to Earth on a mission to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force, while also trying to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, which are believed to be caused by the Red Force. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda -- corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world, such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc. And SuperM is the Kpop industry's very first supergroup which debuted in October 2019 and their concept and storyline is centered around the fact that they are Avengers-like superheros, so SuperM is the group that pretty much connects everything together. As part of EXO's story, Baekhyun and Kai -- who are members of EXO -- have recruited members from SM's other male Kpop groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT and Ten and Lucas from WayV -- and formed SuperM, to help them battle the Red Force. So, because of this all of SM's groups have storylines that connect. I see connections between EXO, SuperM, aespa and SHINee with the fact that we see SuperM riding on a subway train in their "100" MV and we see aespa in the subway in their debut "Black Mamba" MV, and now we see SHINee also in a train station in "Don't Call Me." And most recently, we saw Baekhyun from EXO/SuperM on an old train in his most recent solo "Bambi" MV. We even see Kai from EXO/SuperM on train tracks and people on a subway train platform in his "Film: Kai" solo debut teaser video during his "Amnesia" section of the video and as it transitions to "Mmmh." We also see Key from SHINee in a subway train in his solo debut "One of Those Nights" MV in 2018. And if we go back even further, you see EXO on train tracks in their "Love Me Right" MV and EXO-CBX (which Baekhyun is also a member of) on train tracks in their "Horololo" MV, etc. Which I think is all connected in someway. The train station/subway platform in "Don't Call Me" also is given a very futuristic EXO-like feel with the view of space and the planets in the sky when you see SHINee dancing on the train platform. I also think that the scene with Key in the red outfit standing on the phone booth submerged in water has something to do with the Red Force as well. In that scene we also see Key dressed in his black outfit with the feather headpiece standing in front of the image of himself, which looks as though this could be showing Key in alternate realities -- or a "fake reality." (And now that Key has released his solo "Hate That ... " MV, I think that scene with Taeyeon from Girls' Generation, standing on the rock in the middle of the ocean in "Hate That ..." is connected to that scene in "Don't Call Me" as well.) Then it looks as though the SHINee members go through some sort of wormhole as they are teleported somewhere and we see them all posing in their black outfits. This looks very similar to the scene in SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV when the SuperM members are coming together at the beginning of "Jopping." The members of SuperM are supposed to be coming together to help EXO fight the Red Force and to prevent or stop them from taking over the world, etc. As "The Avengers," SuperM is taking members from each of SM's groups and joining forces to take down the Red Force. And just like how the movies "Avengers Identity War" and "Avengers Endgame" eventually had each of the Marvel Avengers members recruiting their whole crew to help in the fight, I think SM is setting it up so that all of its groups' members will eventually be brought into the fight. So, if you follow EXO's storyline, in EXO's "Obsession" MV we learn that the good guys are the members in the all black outfits, and in "Jopping" we see SuperM's "Avengers uniform" is similar all black outfits. So in the scene in "Don't Call Me," when we see SHINee all together in those black outfits, it looks as though they might be preparing to join in the fight. And because of this, I think people need to pay attention to all of the storylines with all of SM's groups, because I think at least all of SM's third generation groups' MVs and storylines -- and probably even now their 4th gen. groups with the introduction of aespa in 2020 -- are being designed to connect stories and plots. Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together, there are threads of connections between the groups. And that includes SuperM, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT/WayV, aespa, and maybe even Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee. Even though SHINee are second gen, they actually fit within the age group of third generation groups, so they sort of bridge that gap between 2nd and 3rd gen. That is why I think that even though SHINee are part of the second generation, that SM is now working on bringing them into the storyline. And although most of SM's older groups' concepts and MVs may have never been originally designed to have any type of connection to anything to do with anything, that doesn't necessarily mean that over the years as EXO's story has evolved or SM's Universe concept was being created, that SM didn't find "happy coincidences" within those MVs that allowed them to use them as a way to connect things together. For example, some have pointed to the fact that NingNing's butterfly in aespa's concept from 2020 could be connected to the butterfly in EXO's debut "Mama" MV from 2012, as well as the butterfly in NCT-127's recent "Favorite (Vampire)" MV from 2021, and some have made compelling arguments that it could even be connected to SHINee's butterfly in their "Ring Ding Dong" MV from 2009. Or the blue roses we see in Taemin's "Press Your Number" MV from 2016 may be connected to EXO's flower/blue rose concept, etc. Now I'm not completely convinced that SM would reach back that far, but it makes you question and consider things. :D I mean we see what looks like the pink planet from Super Junior's recent "House Party" MV and a scene from Super Junior-K.R.Y.'s "When We Were Us" MV from 2020 in "aespa's ep.1 - SM Culture Universe" video. And SM has even brought Kangta, who is a member of the very first Kpop boy group H.O.T., which debuted in 1996, into the storyline with his solo MV remake of H.O.T's song "Free to Fly." So it's starting to look like SM may be hinting at bringing everyone into the storyline, including their older groups and artists.

As a Brazilian, my English is still evolving... so forgive me if I can't express myself so well here. Listening to Shinee's old songs brings me a lot of nostalgia, as if the 11 year old child came back to life remembering the sensations I had discovering kpop. Shawol was the first fandom I joined in kpop, and I was able to follow a good part of the boys' career and its evolution. It feels like yesterday that Everybody & Colorful was released. When I heard the comeback ot4, it was in parts painful for me... to know that such a remarkable group from my childhood would never be the same again. But on the other hand, it was as if a new story was starting even for me, because it was the beginning of my college... watch the boys in a new beginning and in a way with so much hope, union and strength... it gaves me much more strength at the beginning of studies and meet the new me. I recommend listening to Tell What To Do, it's one of my favorite songs by them... Thankx for the react!!

As a fan from 08 (yeaaah... it's been a while lmao) I think there was nothing but hype for this comeback. We were all waiting for it from the day the guys discharged. There were fun vlives with Taemin spoiling even their meetings for their album... and a shinee's back promo during the new years sm concert that year as well so we were all just waiting. The hype was amazing... so much teasing and spoiling and CRAZY vlives. Absolute chaos. One of the better comebacks imo... I don't think I remember the fans being this hyped since 2013. In the sense of anticipation...

Your question, the feeling was bittersweet for sure. I have been following Shinee since their debut. They're one of the groups that brought me to Kpop alongside TVXQ! and Brown Eyed Girls. (I was a JRock Fan). When Jonghyun left us I just had my daughter and I was healing a csection. I cried so hard for him (which with abdomen surgery is painful) and for his bandmates he left behind. So knowing they are still going because they know Jonghyun would want that, makes my heart happy. I know physically seeing the four members together is weird without seeing Jonghyun but I know that Jonghyun's soul is still very much so present in how they perform their music. I think that's what helped me get through his loss as a Shawol. They never stopped having his memory in their music or their lives. The men are very actively commenting on the reality of Jonghyun's situation as well and they do not let anyone forget that they are 5 still. I couldn't watch the men in Shinee perform for him during his memorial service for months. I would be lying if I said I didn't bawl my eyes out when I watched Don't Call Me for the first time. I had to stop and restart and then get utterly destroyed by Minho's entrance. I have been actively watching Taemin since the oldest went to the military and I gradually got back to watching them. The same was how I reacted to Ladies' Code after the tragedy that hit them.

for me it was a major rollercoaster of emotions seeing them back together like this. it has been so long and sure they had solo stuff but it’s not the same. let’s just say when i saw that they were coming back i sobbed for a little while. and then when the album came out i was really happy and vibing. then i did a marathon of their songs and cried again lol. i just know jonghyun is proud of them and proud of shawols for how far everyone has gotten.

A lot of shawols found the story of light comeback to be the most bittersweet, since it was the first cb with only four of them. But for me, when they had that comeback, I kinda kept away from it cause it just hurt too much. I wasn't able to watch the mv's from that cb until quite recently actually. Because of that, this cb, with don't call me and atlantis, was the one that felt really bittersweet to me. I was so proud of them for coming back after a more than 2 year break and absolutely crushing it. the songs are amazing and the concepts are groundbreaking as usual, but I really felt the absence this time. I would listen to the new songs and think "wow, jonghyuns voice would really fit that part" or some times i would just genuienly feel like i heard him in the song. it's still hard. i miss him more than words can explain, and i think it will always feel a little bittersweet, but the boys are all doing absolutely amazing and i am so so proud of them. i know that im gonna support them till the end of the line

I've known SHINee longer than half of my life time. It was late 2008 to early 2009 I was just 12 but boy, the journey has been so crazy. And when they came back last year the nostalgic and excitement hit me so hard, because it reminds me so much of how much time has passed, how much they have grown, how much MYSELF has grown. It's just so crazy. Ofc they're ups and downs being part of the fandom, but I just can't believe so many years later and we're still here, they're still so good, and the journey is still going 😭 Their talents are no joke, but we can't just ignore their hardwork and how much sacrifices they've made to become this legendary. Like SHINee as individuals, SHINee as a group, SHINee as a whole production are just out of this world. I just can't imagine a world without SHINee.

Replay is one of the best debuts in kpop history~ Jong's vocals are outstanding, one of the most unique voices in kpop. I love rewatching the mv when they were all still babies, Taemin was only 14 and Onew was 18 or 19 I think.

(As a shawol who was around when dcm and Atlantis dropped) it was weird when these two songs dropped. First was dcm (and its respective album) and I loved it, I’d waited for it a LONG time and it was crazy to see the shawol community coming together for it (tho to be fair we had come together for the boys’ return from the army too). However as much as I loved it, it was also pretty reminiscent of exo and NCT’s sound. SHINee are absolute concept chameleons, we’ve heard a lot of sounds from them, change is part of their image, so i wasn’t mad ab it, but u know, we already had other groups doing such concepts so I didn’t go insane ab it. However, Atlantis?! THAT song made me lose my mind when it came out in the repackaged version of their album. Minho’s rap is fantastic and makes the song memorable and idk it was just EXACTLY what I wanted from them. Not a single song in 2021 sounded like it and at the same time it was familiar. That album in general was just great. Not a single skip. Not a single 2nd gen group charts as well as they still do. In fact, their comeback was so successful that it inspired a wave of 2nd gen returns and many groups reappeared thanks to how successful they were. It makes me nothing but proud tbh. What a beautiful group

yes!! so glad you reacted to SHINee. my first ult group. been listening to kpop since 2007ish . ( i was 7 at that time ) and i definitely would absolutely love to be able to go back and listen to SHINee for the first time. my first kpop albums i owned were SHINee's hello album, and 2NE1's first mini album. i miss it so much. 2nd gen kpop was just absolutely the best time to become a fan- and I'm so glad i was able to live through it as a fan. thank you for giving me a good morning cry today lol. replay is absolutely one of the best kpop debuts to have ever happened. the guy you were talking about in the beginning that you loved his voice so much- was jonghyun who has passed. he was truly my bias in SHINee, and it was devastating to hear about him passing in 2017. there's a video of Minho (long hair guy in ring ding dong, and eyebrow guy in atlantis , red hair in don't call me for you!) with kids reacting to SHINee, and you can see how much it affected him when the kids asked about him (referencing 5 vs 4..). regardless, when SHINee came back as 4- it made me happy that they were still able to make music, and them acknowledge that SHINee will always be 5. there''s a performance of them singing a song called "from now on" at their SHINee world best of 2018- and it's super emotional, because they do have 5 microphones, 5 spotlights. if you have a chance to watch it- do it. just, be ready to cry. and onew is pronounced oh-new :)

Thank you for reacting to SHINee :) Please take your time and pleasure yourself with SHINee live performances and their album b-sides. They're awesome! I've been a long time Shawol since 2009, they brought me to kpop and always hold a special place in my heart. I was a hardcore kpop listener back then, but eventually I got out of it around 2014 - 2015 because I was occupied with work. But I am always here and be back whenever SHINee's back, they're that special to me. SHINee and Shawols, we've been through long years and a lot of it. To me, they are that good old friends that you can anytime reminisce all the good memories of them and cherish it. I love their music, I genuinely do and been my most listened to artist for years on Spotify haha. Whenever SHINee announces their comeback, I'd go back and do myself a SHINee marathon. Dont Call Me reminds me how crazy SHINee music can be, exploring a genre they never did, and I absolutely love them for it. Atlantis on the other hand, is a good remembrance of a classic SHINee sound. Watching them altogether again, made me happy, super happy. I thought they would take it easy, but there we go SHINee being SHINee busting moves like that. It made me happy and bittersweet. They released a lot of content/promotional activities, I am sure many Shawols felt this that occasionally/randomly we have this thought in our head, 'ah its not five of them' or 'no jjong in recent clips'. It truly is bittersweet. For each of Dont Call Me music show win, I would go to jonghyun's insta and music video and posted comments. I'd see many other Shawols did that too. My only wish is for SHINee to always be happy and for them to continue enjoy making music, whatever genres they're going for. Whatever their decision in the future, I'll always keep watching over them :)

And you were right about the Minho(e) thing 😂 He was in fact the bare chested one in Don't Call Me 😂 As for their comeback last year, I've been a Shinee stan since Lucifer era (in 2010) and they came back after almost a 3 year hiatus and honestly I might have cried watching the Don't Call Me MV 😅 It's such a hype song but I just couldn't help myself seeing my boys back together 😁 Anyway done with the rant.
