It was a fairly big hit for Namco and one of the most beloved titles from the 1980-83 "golden age" of arcade games, so it was naturally a candidate for being ported to multiple platforms. I'm surprised it didn't get a ZX Spectrum port, but perhaps it didn't do as well in British arcades as in Japanese and North American arcades-or maybe someone made a clone that beat Atari and Namco to the punch.

There is actually one version missing that was featured in the PC collection Namco All-Stars (alongside Pac-Man). C64 Dig Dug is an NTSC game and there is no PAL optimised version (eventho it works on PAL machines, but squashed and slowed as a result). It looks and plays fine at 60Hz. So what's the best version? I think arcade, x68000 and PlayStation(looks similar), msx looks as having some extra features and game boy have a nice version.

Sharp X68000 version is really impressive considering it's a port and not emulated like the Windows and PlayStation versions.

I played a version of Dig Dug on a Stranger Things dedicated handheld console, it mostly tried to be like the original arcade game even though it was very low resolution.

By all rights, the Atari 5200 version can also run on Atari 8-bit computers as it's just a stripped down Atari 400.

All those other versions from the 80s after the arcade version were trash. The 90s simulated, which simulated the arcade version, were decent.
