Oh my god, this has to be one of the most haunting and amazing films I've ever watched. Absolutely meaningful. Not for people who like quick excitement but subtleties, slowly cooked characters and situations happening at their pace before their eyes. It all comes together at its time. I applauded at the end although I was watching alone. Love it

I watched this film in full in the early hours of this morning and enjoyed it more than I imagined. I've spent most of the day reflecting on it and it's meaning. I'm a 53 year old no nonsense, quite gruff Englishman who enjoys a good paranormal film, which led me here. Lately I've been struggling to find anything on You Tube, of that ilk, that is worthy of my time. Although I wouldn't class this as a true paranormal film, it has a few moments, but it is a story of ghosts of the past and it has touched something deep inside me, and it's rare for me to reflect on life like I have been doing. My hats off to the makers and especially to the two young actors who carried the story pretty much alone from start to finish. The ending left me dumbstruck, and I blame dust or something for the need to press my palms on my eyes and smear away the fluid. A memorable film. Thank you for sharing this gem.

KZbin randomly played this movie for me and I had no idea what it was about. Now I'm near the end and I'm sitting here crying like a baby. This movie is excellent. You should definitely watch it. For those that didn't understand what happened - spoiler alert: The parents left to go to the doctor because the mother was going to have a baby. They intended to be gone a few days. The kids were left there with a list of chores - feed the animals, fetch water, etc etc etc - and were waiting for their parents to come back with a brother or sister. BUT their parents had an accident. That broken wagon was their parents. The parents died in the accident. The 2 kids pretended that they were coming home in a few days and just kept doing the chores on the list and maintaining the farm. The attic door - there was nothing behind it. They were playing a game, since they were kids, pretending to be young and still waiting for their parents. The part where he leaves the pocket knife at the graves, is when we find out that the parents are definitely dead and not coming back. And that the brother knows it. The sister was sick and dying and retreated back to her childhood. The brother was looking after her and trying to make her happy and comfortable. Locked inside of the attic was aging and death. Once they opened the door you could see their real age - elderly. The sister was coughing up blood at various points throughout the movie, and giving other clues that she wasn't well. In the end, she died, and he buried her next to her parents and their broken wagon.

The parents left to have a baby, left the children alone for possibly a long time until one day, the boy went looking for help and saw the accident with their wagon and buried his parents. Apparently they both visited the burial site numerous times because there was a lot of trinkets next to their gravesite. I'm assuming the children were in denial and living out their days in the middle of the desert with no hope of help as children in their minds. I was hard for them to come to terms with reality.

An absolutely incredible movie. A good movie is like a good joke… if it needs explaining then the receiver isn’t thinking or using their imagination. Death and old age were locked in the attic. Their imaginations kept them going even though their parents left them at a very young age, and died on their trip to have another baby. Very well put together. It also is an eye-Opener for those that can’t fathom what life is like without grocery stores, electricity, water piped to the house, and no labor to help with the chores. Most wouldn’t last 3 days.

I’m going to watch this because in our grandparents house was an unusual attic door where we kids would sleep. We were told to leave the door alone, and that they didn’t use it. The house was made up of 3 old houses put together, and the attic door led to one of the other houses. Weird thing is that although there were 13 kids in my grandparents family no one slept upstairs. Ground floor only had 3 bedrooms, so several children slept in each bed.

@AL-ru3nk It saddens me to hear your comment, as your words are an echo I have spoken many times . May I ask why you are feeling this way? What makes you know that you won't know happiness again? In life there are many many types of happiness. Some so strong that when it's cut clean through, we feel that what was can never be again. That is not the right way of thinking. Life is a delicate web. Some times a strand of web will break, but how a web is built, structured, it can handle many cut threads, for the design of life's web, it's still intact and held together by the design of life. Some threads will never be like it was, but the replacement thread makes the web more stronger than before. I probably sound like a crazy lol I know what I mean in my head I just can't seem to get it out in right way in words. I'm 53. Never been married. Just haven't found my soul mate yet. Might not either because I'm sure it's easier to accept our own deaths than to bear the pain and grief of loosing our soul mate. Well shoot. I don't think I've helped much here. I've probably stuck both my feet right smack in my mouth. And yes, I'm sure both of em would fit. I actually surprise myself at times. I've got a deep booming voice when there's a call for it lol has came in handy a few times lol I'll just say that if we lived in mountains, I can hollar out and on next ridge over you'd hear me loud and clear. Mostly I use it for calling my animals home. I don't need one of those things that looks like a cone that you hold to your mouth and it makes your voice loud. Anyways I'm not going talk your ear off as I'm just rambling here. I hope you can and do find happiness and welcome it back in your life. Time is but a blink of an eye. Blink of an eye takes time? That don't sound right. Anyways I can't remember that Ole saying. Well have a good night. Happiness is always around. It's up to us to believe and grab it and hold it close. The web of life has many threads that can and do break, but the design of the web keeps life up and going till we replace broken one

@@robbieallan6522 Maybe the spring was uphill and down hill was after the water had fallen though the fields, over gaavel dust and through the cow pasture. If in Colarado in the mountains a high mountain spring could evaporate before it went many miles. Jack of course in the Nursery Rhyme was only fetching a single pale of water. But for a youngen that is really potentially heavy. It is by far easier to carry a heavy item down hill than uphill against gravity especially over a long distance.

OKAAAY. I'll begin with the positive. The cinematography was 11/10 Gorgeous, perfect, spectacular. The performances were equally stellar. Now for the rest - as a long time fan of the various subgenres of horror etc., I'm too old to be entertained by the usual tropes & my most despised trope is the use of children & animals... Both of which were employed here. I fully understand & accept that it's challenging to be truly unique and/or original in 2024...but it CAN be done. I appreciate the psychological twist in this script but, even though it was beautiful, it was ultimately predictable. I'm frustrated by this criticism and almost feel like I'm being too harsh. Dang it!!!! Horror is the most challenging genre & this was 7/8 out of 10. If we did a post mortem I would work to fix the gaps!! SOOO CLOSE!!! Storyboard this! Work out the gaps. But KEEP YOUR CINEMATOGRAPHER & EDITOR!!¡ You are so close to a real gem ☮️🧡🌈

Sometimes kids are smart and could live on their own depending on their IQ. My mom knows someone, this one guy was about 15, he ran away from home and at around age 33 he’s already rich up to until now. 😊

Here's a good movie that will keep you guessing right up to the last 15 minutes. Real good story line and acting.

I couldn't figure out why she couldn't look in the mirror and then broke it, it all was understood at the end. Quite a movie.

Where'd the white clean clothes come from all those years? Who cut their hair? She milks a bull with horns too, quite an oversight for the director, any farm kid caught that one. Where'd all their food come from? What did the cows eat to survive, as there's zero pasture for them to graze anywhere in any direction? The oil to keep the lamps burning all those years? Parents wouldn’t have left them alone they would have taken them, but in those days they had children at home and if possible a midwife would have come to the house. So many things make no sense. Also the movie is slow and boring.

This movie was well done, the story line and the acting was incredible. Towards the ending it hits you hard with sadness. The brother missing his loved ones and the days of his youth of being together. His Family.

Interesting movie, but, a long, slow build up to nothing. SPOILER ALERT... It's like "The Others", but, instead of ghosts, this movie....well, I'll just shut up already. Also, Clementine, NOOOOOO!!! Warning: If you are looking for a monster movie, keep looking.
