12s are fantastic machines. Mine is very comfortable over 100km + rides, but still feels like a chuckable crit bike through town. Great job repairing the levers by the way

Great build and a terrific bike. Thanks for the video. Your enthusiasm comes through in the video. I just bought a CAAD 12 with 105. Put a 10 arm Hollowgram spidering on it to replace the ugly FSA that it came with. Love the ride.

Thanks! If you ride long enough and at a fast pace you’re inevitably going to crash at some point. I had been riding in Korea for 11 yrs before that point without a single crash. I hit a stone in the road at almost 40kph as I looked up to check if the traffic light was still green and bang! Can’t remember anything after that as I was knocked out. Just a freak accident. You live and learn. Thanks for watching!

Lovely bike because I own the same year CAAD 12 only difference is I have the 105-rim brake version with the SI crank. My version is the bike that Bike Radar chose as Bike of the Year 2016 in Black and green. Luckily for me I never crashed it, fingers crossed. Everything is original except bar tape and tires.

Hello, very nice Caad, I have a question. Did the rear wheel have to be laced due to the asymmetrical rear triangle?
@BikeLife154
@BikeLife154 Жыл бұрын
@michakowalski4657 ~ this is only needed with some cannondale models. I know the SuperX has to be dished if you buy a new wheelset for it and I think some early topstone models. The Caad12 as well as my CaadX will take any regular wheelset. So if you buy a Caad12 there's nothing to worry about. Cheers!

Hello. I have the exact same CAAD 12 which I purchased about 4 or 5 years ago and . . . i recently had an accident as well! Anyway, there was a bit of damage to the shifters/hoods, (I got pretty banged up but no breaks) but in a moment of madness I disassembled the bike and am having it repainted. My question is this; I had a Dura Ace crank installed by the shop when I bought it, and the mechanic just used BB30 adaptors which I found out much later was incorrect as the frame is asymmetrical and requires a BB 30A bottom bracket. I am planning on installing a BB30A Outboard ABEC-3 BB for 24mm Cranks (Shimano) and I heard your comment at the end of the video and wondered what BB you are running? BTW, i am an amateur mechanic and will be rebuilding the bike myself (I recently rebuilt my old CAAD 9 and I done good). Sorry to bang on so long, but if you have a moment any info/advice you have would be appreciated. Thumb up from SW Florida.

@joebikeguy6669 I am running a one piece Hambini Race BB and it’s the best thing that’s ever been in this bike. No creaks or clicks. Completely silent speed. Love it and would highly recommend it, but like most things now in cycling it’s expensive. Before that when I had the original Cannondale Si crankset I used a C-bear ceramic BB which was also good. This was also expensive. Hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!
@joebikeguy6669
@joebikeguy6669 Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for talking the time to reply. I used to watch Hambini . . . and you ain't kidding! I just checked his website and the BB30A is priced at close to $400 USD not including VAT and shipping! The Wheels Mfg. is a cheaper version at $132, but I have plenty of time before I get the bike back from the painter to save my pennies. (Maybe I could get a paper route)! Anyhow it seems we are living parallel lives so let's both try not to crash again. Best regards and good luck with your channel.

I know it’s expensive, but I had a couple years of creaking and clicking from new and it drove me mad. Can you imagine buying a brand new bike and it creaking on every ride? The bike shop who sold me the bike couldn’t stop it and it was even sent to Cannondale Korea. First ride back it started creaking again. By this time the bike shop had had enough and gave up. I knew then I had to find my own solution. I bought a C-bear ceramic BB and it stopped immediately. A few years later I decided to ditch BB30 for good. I loved the Si cranks but the system itself is flawed. $400 is a considered purchase but to me it was a no brainer! This bike is incredibly smooth now and is the best it can possibly be. I have no affiliation with Hambini btw. Take care!

@@joebikeguy6669 There's a more affordable one-piece BB out there: BBInfinite. However, due to the design of the module (there's a window made just for the shift cable guide), this BB is only compatible with rim brake CAAD12s that run either mechanical or SRAM eTap groupsets.
@joebikeguy6669
@joebikeguy6669 Жыл бұрын
@@sbccbc7471 As luck would have it my CAAD 12 is a rim brake with a mechanical groupset. I won't repeat what you have already read, but instead of just installing BB30 bearings in the BB shell, which is what I have always done, I was planning to go with the Wheels Inc. BB30 A outboard 2 piece threaded bottom bracket suggested by Cannondale customer service. However, I am still waiting for my frame to be returned from the painter and have not purchased the anything yet. So, I will research your suggestion. Thanks.

Different tyres have different factual widths depending on the rim fit, but on my caad12 with R8000 calipers there is enough room left with various 28 mm tyres on 21 mm internal rims to assume 30 mm rubber should fit just barely
