I respect war veterans but I much respect the Filipino people. That bell is a sign of peace between those who fell on the Battle of Balangiga.

The Americans should understand that these Balangiga Bells were not war booties as they have claimed based on their version of history...the attack on the 9th US infantry regiment on Sept 28, 1901 was in retaliation of the more 30,000 natives of Leyte that the US Army massacred....and the Bells were not a sign of peace for those who fell in the battle against the Americans...the Bells looted by the Americans, and those Bells stand as a reminder of the blood of those Filipinos who died fighting the Americans and those more than 30,000 helpless Leyteños they massacred...history is history.. Returning Balangiga Bells to the Philippines could had be done by the previous administration prior to Duterte..the problem is they don't have the balls as they were politically and economically entrapped by the Americans...afraid to lose the billions of dollars of loan from the IMF and the World Bank...

Also,I am recommending that once you ring the Balangiga Bells inside Philippines,Filipino people too must change the country status from country to state Philippines, recognizing the July 04,1946 as Fil Am friendship day(de jure government not June 12,1898(de facto government being stablished by general Emilio Aguinaldo) as national independence day of Filipino people as well as English language as national language of Filipino people not Filipino language following the motherland(United States of America's language).Marker in Philippine History.

Dr. Jose Rizal was not a member of Spanish Cortez,he was not a mercantilist,he wanted to let Peninsulares citizens of Spain be equal status of Filipinos when in fact Philippines was not Spain but rather a colony.Dr. Jose Rizal did not ask for knighhoodship rite for Filipino men to be knighted by King of Spain directly to specify patriotism in pure way and join Spanish Armada with golds inside with it.

I strongly recommend that Filipino people will be allowed to ring the bells of (Balangiga Bells) for as long as they be recognizing King Philip II of Spain to be their vintage hero and replaced Dr. Jose P. Rizal as their national hero. Also, removal of all national shrine monuments dedicated to Dr. Jose P.Rizal.Filipino people too must understand the significance of The Spaniards Christianity religion brought by them in Philippines as well as large scale building of fortress nationwide. We as Filipinos are the beneficiary of Christianity. Filipinos too in 21st century must understand that King Philip II of Spain defended Christianity heavily against Moors(Moriscos,Islam).Filipinos never defended Christianity heavily against Islam,in fact they are pro Freedom of Religion after American forces defeated Spaniards in Spanish American War(influence by Westeners),separation of church and state.Pure nationalism is a mystery for Filipino people to understand with.Nationalism in 21 st century for Filipinos is new theme to explore with.Nationalism being experienced under Marcos time by Filipinos is very different than American and European counterparts. Balangiga Bells don't have patented property and cultural as well as ownership ties with Filipinos in general alone. From Miguel Lopez de Legaspi (1565) up to American supremacy in Pacific.Spaniards dominate the management affairs of Roman Catholic Church programs(faith) nationwide as well as ringing the bells as a sign of combination of state and religious affairs inside Catholic Church.Peso belongs to Spaniards.Name Filipino nationality belongs to King Philip II of Spain(we bear his name) as a legacy for conquest in Philippines for 333 years. The culture sound of bells(Balangiga Bells) belongs to Spaniards.Filipino people must return the credits to Spaniards as well as income for Tourism exhibits being earned by bells inside Philippines.

Besides ringing, what good are those bells? NADA!! Unless those bells have magical wish-granting powers(ex: like if I wished I have a million dollars, I'd get it after ringing them), they are no use to us. *If ever we get back our EEZ in WPS* , that day is truly worth celebrating!

You should look up for Balangiga massacre where in American troops, headed by General Smith ordered his men to kill everyone in the town of Balangiga over the age of ten. They took the bells for the live of 48 troops who died but that town lost almost 6,000 people. Do your research, google is free anyway. :)

Its useless for Filipino people to ring the bell for number 1,from Miguel Lopez de Legaspi(1565 up to 1898),there were no Filipino nobility(nobles) class being recognized by king of Spain for Filipino people to be proud of.The time when the Americans defeated Spaniards and let Philippines annexed to be state of America, nobody ask for appeal to both America and Spaniards that Filipino men must be granted knighthood ship to be equal with both Americans and Spaniards and be provided with Spanish Armada.Philippines is still a rump parliament without king and house of lords untill now 2020.Filipino people in general is empty of soul of patriots.Philippine republic is a kingdom of King Philip but Filipino people don't recognized King Philip II as their patriotic king and hero. Its a mystery really. We presently bear the name of king Philip II-Filipino citizens. No questions ask for American supremacy when 1898 was the time of Americanization of Philippines and let George Washington to be the first de jure government President of Filipino people after Spanish American War,Filipino American War and Japanese American War.
