Return of the Cement and Other Trains at Carlisle!
Double headed 56s on the Logs!
08, 09 March 23
Filmed over two afternoons at carlisle.
On the passenger side, the Avanti Super Voyager shuttles to and from Glasgow are subject to the arrival of the connecting Pendolinos from London. Another factor is the traincrew - we see one where the driver has been unexpectedly rostered for a return working but needs a 45 minute break - the train is scheduled for a 30 minute layover.
On the freight side, the Logs continue to run over the WCML - usually behind a 70 but on occasion behind a pair of 56s. Colas must be short of 70s.
The Land Recovery stone working to Longport is being loaded at Carlisle Yard rather than Ravenstruther for the period of the weekday blockage at Carstairs.
A welcome sight was the first run of the Castle Cement train to PD Sterling at Mossend. For some reason this was initially scheduled for an overnight run on the Settle & Carlisle line - the problem being the signal boxes on the line have moved from 3 x 8hr shifts to 2x8hrs - closed overnight! This working was Thursday Clitheroe to Carlisle Yard, Friday on to PD Sterling, Saturday empty to Carlisle YArd and Sunday back to Clitheroe. We shall see how the schedule pans out in the coming weeks!
