Only outside the U.S. would a workman be this excited that his job engages in such environmentally friendly practices. We need this attitude in the States.

If only local farms everywhere sold local made goods to doors in electric cars. The gains of this makes tremendous sense.

Been a milkman since I was 13, absolutely love my job highly recommended but it's so hard finding new milk lads nowadays the early mornings they can't hack 😂

Totally support this. Would be great to see the original style electric milk float on our streets. In addition the only thing for some people is paying pretty much double the price for this service. Most people are use to buying cheap milk from supermarkets, £1 pound for 4 pints whereas milkman is 80-90 pence per pint. Although people would happily support this because it make total sense in many ways, the price will be a bitter pill to swallow for some.

I'd love to start up the milkman service in the U.S. but the kind of money required is astronomical
@polishherowitoldpilecki55214 жыл бұрын
Not really, Fonda local farm to support. Buy a uniform, get a loan for a truck. And start delivering in nearby neighborhood. You can start by targeting climate conscious people. You can then proceed to take out a loan. And boy another truck, hire some staff. And because it’s a resurfacing new enterprise, you’ll have zero competition. And the get up and have people sign up though there.

Ive returned to being a milkman ,i started in 1985 as a 19yr old had a 13 yr break in 2003 now been back working with milk&more this past 3years . This guy on this film as just been named milkman of the year in 2018 ! He doesn't tell us like me that we have to get all our deliveries done by 7 am !! this means starting your round at midnight and working through the night . so seems strange how our customers are able to see us up until last year i was able to still see some of my older customers because i could finish my round later starting at 3am and finishing around 9am but this as all been taken away by the company insisting on a 7am finish ! Odd how he recons he gets asked questions by customers , i don't see any of mine anymore ! we used to be a part of the community , not anymore !!!

The milkmen delivering and their floats in the early morning was of course one of those everyday sights up to the 70s and 80s. I had to cut costs after I flew the nest near the end of the 80s though even back then the prospect of all those plastic bottles instead of glass and milkmen being pushed out of business did not please me. I've always believed we should look after the environment,while living a little at the same time,and I've been recycling since 1995 having wanted to do so for some years before that. I went back to having a milkman deliver my milk for a while in the late 90s but a period of financial turbulence and two moves of house put paid to that. There was a round locally for a while in the 2000s but it seems to have gone now 😢. I'm now on the lookout for a local milk round that will deliver to me in glass bottles,as I want to give the swerve to the queues and now the mask rules at the shops. Unless I ever get in that situation of being forced to slash costs again,I would be delighted to keep my custom of the milk round on even once the restrictions are lifted and the shops return to normal.

Electric vehicles ans plastic free! Both great for the environment
@screamtoasigh99845 жыл бұрын
Lie. Electric batteries are toxic. So are solar panels. They can't be recycled. They are built in China, toxic capitol of the world and a gulag nation. The mining of nickel, aluminium, etc.

Here in Germany, people shake hands or pat the shoulder of a modern 'chimney-sweep' for luck. The British should also celebrate their milkmen (and ladies). Any chance of re-introducing fresh-cream buns? To the door-step milk-thieves, burn in Hell.

How is it environmentally friendly to add another delivery service to our roads that could very easily be substituted with our frequent visits to the supermarket? In days gone by the milkman would deliver in an electric vehicle with no doors to slam and would have so many customers in a small area that he could get his round done in a few hours. We now have milk companies that deliver over a very wide area and so have to use noisy non electric vehicles with doors that get slammed and it's not just the early hours of the morning, it's all through the night. It's a romantic idea that has had it's day. The sooner supermarkets start stocking glass we can consign this industry to the past once and for all. What other service would we accept delivering all through the night? Why not deliver during the day or early evening when most people are already awake?

The truth doesn't create legends and urban myths. Amazes me no one ever mentions there was a known serial killer living and killing in the same town. No one mentions he was the nephew of the milk man. He delivered the milk. He killed several people with his hatchet and always used excessive force and took the same things from each scene. A few dollars, change, a pocket watch, leaving behind other things of value.
