This family itself did so much for the world building of the TVD universe. For one of the first time, we step out of the high school love triangle of Elena, Stefan, Damon and we focus on characters that feel so mature, so commanding, the take the whole narrative and so much charisma, they basically command the room, and make it about themselves. Suddenly it doesn't feel like Elena is the center of the story, because there are way more important stories to be told of characters way beyond her time.

@@CountryKyle007 Yes, buffy is a classic and miles better but you can’t dispute the fact that both shows revolve around the supernatural world, featuring vampires, witches, werewolves, and other mystical creatures. Both series focus on a group of young protagonists and have female leads who are central to the stories and possess abilities. The key similarity for me is that both shows employ a similar format of dealing with a different supernatural threat or monster in each episode, while also maintaining an overarching storyline.

Funny how Klaus seemed genuienly terrified of Kol. Moreso than the others. I think Klaus knew Kol to be a loose canon, like himself, and knew that Kol will enact the most gruesome acts even when not wronged. At least with Elijah you knew he had some restrictions in his code of honour but with both Klaus and Kol you'd never know what was coming.

This is the point Esther couldve turned her entire family around. They couldve been strong and powerful even moreso once Freya arrived and they couldve all handled Dahlia and with Hope they wouldve been unstopable. They couldve actually been a bit normal. By trying to kill them she broke their trust but made them closer but ruthless.

Had Esther done her part here, and then woke Freya, who knows, Michael could've been humbled too when he returned in the originals.
