Fabulous presentation of a bygone age. Sad that some of these old stations have been wiped off the map or just simply abandoned & forgotten. It's good that some are now thriving as museums.

In 1945 I think Australia was too busy fighting a war to be gauge converting railway lines. I am fairly sure gauge conversion occurred in stages from 1953 to 1959.

Indeed. Some sources say the work began 1945 but I agree with you.

'Letters from Kalangadoo'. I visted the town because of the 'letters'. It's an interesting place.

Old cockie Peter Savage is a character. He has a passion for the museum that is infectious.

Very interesting, never considered that the 'Doo would be the point where passengers got off and went to Millicent

In the 70s I would test the twin deck Hawk weighbridge 35 ton each deck which looks like it has been removed , was on the southern side of the yard ,used old OB wagons for dead weight and needed a frame to go on the line to put the ton weights on because the weighbridge was a live rail not a live deck bridge The SAR had a number of Hawks all over SA some are still there. Eudunda GLADSTONE PETERBOROUGH are a few.
