Great video, I have family in Royalton. I need to get down there and ride this. It sucks the Tip Top Tunnel wont be utilized. I've done the North Bend Rail Trail. Some super cool tunnels there.💯

I ride the Dawkins at least 2-3 times a year. Beautiful scenery, a great party-pace ride and a great recovery ride after a harder effort.

That looks like a nice trail. I might just have to add that one to my bucket list along with the Greenbrier once I get back into better shape

A nice ride on a familiar trail…I think your first video of this trail it was mainly gravel if I remember. It’s always great to ride in the fall with the crispness in the air.

@@tonyorme6446 Yes, it was gravel. We first rode on this trail in 2018 (see kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXLdlHWbmMqrfacsi=8RTXb8sEK7zizYg7), in preparation for riding the GAP for the first time.

I had to look up where this trail is exactly. It is a beautiful ride especially at this time of year when leaves are pretty. Very cool trail system, hopefully I can ride it in the future. Thanks for sharing 👍

Good to see you giving this trail some love. I have a question. Your one of the few bicycle KZbinrs that doesn't ride alone. Did you happen to have friends that were in to bicycling too or are they friends you found because of riding?

I'm a long-time fan of the Dawkins Line and did a video on riding it back in 2018 (see kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXLdlHWbmMqrfacsi=8RTXb8sEK7zizYg7). I've been contemplating doing other videos, but wanted to wait until I felt like I had something new to share. As for your question, it's a combination of those things. One of the guys I ride with (Lucas), I call my "original riding partner". We've been friends since elementary school and used to ride our bikes around town. In 6th grade, we even got permission, from our parents, to ride from Frankfort to Lexington together, which was quite the adventure. And we started riding together, as adults, back in 2014. Other folks, I've either met through friends and found out that we both like cycling or even through the course of my work on the Kentucky Cycling project. (Tim, who was in this video, was featured in my Kentucky Wandrers interview, for example (see kzbin.info/www/bejne/emPcpIiomr5gack)). All that being said, my plan is to retire from my full-time job next summer and I hope to do more of this. So, there may yet be some solo rides on the channel, in the future. But, the journey is always more fun, with friends!

@@KentuckyCycling Yeah. I watched your last Dawkins Line video. That's how I found out about it and rode it last year. Might hit it again while the leaves are changing this week. The Fall colors can make an average trail beautiful and it's already a beauty. Thanks for sharing your videos. They've really helped me and thank you for your response. It was very interesting. You seem to have a real history with bicycles. I wish bikes would have been a bigger part of my life after getting my driver's license but better late than never. I ride as much as I can now. I won't take up any more of your time. Thanks again.

In your opinion is this trail worth driving 200 miles to ride for a couple days?
@KentuckyCycling
@KentuckyCycling 3 ай бұрын
Well, I drive a lot farther than that to ride trails so I might not be the best person to ask. LOL. I drove 120 miles myself and it was totally worth it. My suggestion would be to come and ride both it and the Prestonsburg Passage. There are also MTB trails at Sugar Camp Mountain (also in Prestonsburg) as well as hiking trails as well as Dewey Lake at Jenny Wiley as well as other things to do in town (e.g. the Mountain Arts Center).
