Hello Courtney! I really feel as though you know what you’re doing as a loctician and it shows! Very smart and knowledgeable in your craft. May I please ask you a question? I’m going on 6 months of my loc journey and while I love my locs that I’ve installed myself, I really have a hard time when it comes to me retwisting them. It’s not that I don’t know how to retwist but due to the parting system I’ve chosen which is triangle parts, it’s takes me such a long time in doing my hair! Like 6 hours.. Lol 🤦🏽♀️ And when I’m done I love it but then comes 3-4 weeks later I’m back at it again and honestly I’m tired of doing this myself! I think I may have some inconsistencies and parts that are uneven because I always get stuck to a certain point when I’m retwisting it and because I’m such a stifler about my parting. Sometimes I wish I didn’t care about it but I’m so picky about it! I’m sorry for the long text but I was wondering if you have any suggestions about my dilemma? Is there a way that maybe you can look at them and tell me you think? Thanks so much and God Bless you! ❤

Thank you for sharing. How long should someone sit under the dryer following your steps? Is there way to keep the locs skinny it seems like the puff up once they dry up and I remove the clips and that’s not the goal complete opposite.
@CourtneyGrayton20 күн бұрын
At least 30 mins. If they’re unraveling when you remove the clips, your hair isn’t fully dry

Hello I'm 3 weeks in with my two strand locs, she secured my roots with interlocking. Do you have a video on switching over to twisting? I've decided to do the twisting instead. Do you have a video for that.. thank you
@CourtneyGrayton10 ай бұрын
I don’t have a video on that, I’ll make one in the future. It’s not hard to do though, just grow your hair out enough to palm roll the root and then switch over!

Lovely work Courtney..pls would you say it's okay to color your hair 2 weeks before i get microlocs installed? Would be looking out fpr your response..Thanks

It depends on the color & health of your hair.. but generally it’s okay

I love your content very informative I'm 2 months into my journey just had my 2nd retwist I definitely had alot of merging and maybe budding not sure... but it was painful getting the locs separated... what's the butter you using?? Plus do you use that with gel or does it act and hold like a gel??

Do you have any tips on minimizing unraveling in the back of the head? I've been struggling. My hair is much softer in the back of my head, so my locs often unravel.

How long should you keep styles in between retwists? This can be for both starter locs and mature
@CourtneyGrayton Жыл бұрын
For starter locs: 4-5 weeks / Mature locs: however long you'd like!

LONG PARAGRAPH WARNING IM SO SORRY BUT IM IN DISTRESS LOL! I have a question! I think this Loctician messed up my locs 😞 so when I initially started my locs in July (two strand twists) I was told to not retwist nor wash my hair for 4 months. But after two months I saw that was nearly impossible for my hair. It was so dry, dirty, and I had so much new growth. I went to another lady (actual Loctician) and I requested for her to retwist my hair normally (palm roll) but she told me believed it would be best to interlock my hair because if I palm rolled it would be impossible for moisture to seal into my hair ALTHOUGH I don’t have microlocs nor sister locs, I have traditional. Plus she mentioned it’ll prevent my locs from getting fat since that’s the style I do not prefer (keep in mind my hair is like a 4a/4b and my parts were pretty small) it’s been about two months again since my wash and retwist because this Loctician lady created knots in my starters at the root of my head to where she attempted to interlock but was done INCORRECTLY. Making it impossible to do a retwist right now because the knot makes it appear I don’t have enough new growth for room to retwist. and not only that, she wasn’t even able to interlock all the way down to where the new growth ended, so the rest of interlock process is just matted up hair from not getting a retwist for a while previously so I just have this bush of hair at the root then the remaining of the loc is my frizzy twist. if I could send you pictures, I would because I know reading this was probably hard to understand and sounds like a mess. But is there coming back from this? I’m feeling so discouraged with my journey so far & I feel there’s no way to fix this 😢. I’m 4 months in so I would hate to start over. Any tips?

I could comb out & start over but the knots in each loc would be so hard & painful to even comb out!!

I would really prefer to speak with you via video to see what’s going on, but my recommendation for now would be to wash your hair at least once a month for a couple of months while growing your hair out and then proceed with palm rolling

can you make a video about crocheting locs?

I was 4 months Freeform before my wife separated and retwist my Freeform’s into two strand twist I was curious because my hair was locked in pretty good to where I could wash fairly often and the locs would never unravel will my newly retwisted two strand locs reset my progress ? Cuz all she did is separate and two strand the Freeform locs
@CourtneyGrayton9 ай бұрын
No, your hair will still be locked! She’d have to comb them out for them to completely unravel
