My English Bulldog, Sir Ozzie Shortstuf (named after Ozzie Smith, St. Louis Cardinal Shortstop) got me to let him sleep at the foot of our bed. Then he wanted to go outside to use the restroom, only to have me come in an lay on the couch so he could get back on the bed and take my spot. He was just rotten, but he lived him. He lived for 10 1/2 years, which is pretty good for a bulldog. But we loved him! It's been 20 years, and we have not gotten another dog. He was the best!!

Way back in 1998, we bought a big newly constructed home, in Westerville OH… whilst doing all the interior decorating and exterior landscaping, my SO wanted a fence installed in our backyard… soon thereafter, she brought home two boy pups of unknown heritage - turns out they were GSD and Husky mix… the fence was followed by the finished walkout basement, so that they could enter the home from their yard, via the basement (to reduce the cleaning required upstairs), seemingly also necessitated another addition to our pack, as we soon added a female Bassett Hound puppy… whilst we worked, the 3 of them were visited daily by a pet sitter, as well as walked every morning and evening by yours truly… Soon they had their own professional portraits updated yearly, etc…. My neighbor, having two pugs, would lift his pugs over the 4’fence and they’d play w/ our pack every day… the neighbors would exclaim (after we’d consumed a numbers of beers, “when I die, I’ll want to come back reincarnated as one of your dogs…” in the ensuing 27 yrs, not much has changed as we’ve said goodbye to them and after a bit of time, we’d go and adopt a new pack… such is our life to be blessed by our companions ❤🙏🥲

I think you may have forgotten 1 thing for the king. Treats!! LOL! Here is one for you both. I had a Newfoundland. He would not walk on anything unless it was grass, carpet or cement. Area rugs took over the house. But the best part of the story is as he aged, he did not want to come in the back door. Nor do steps. So...my husband (prior to retiring) worked as a 9-1-1 dispatcher in the city we lived in. Every night he worked he would have to send an officer to the house to lift the Newfoundland onto the front porch (who I had walked around from the backyard) so he could come inside. He soon had a favorite officer and would go greet him when the patrol car pulled up. 160# lifted. The officer got a kick out of it!

I had 2 Great Danes, and every evening at dinner I put their oversized plates on the dining room table fastened with extra strong Velcro , so no slippage. They came running, tails thumping and took their seats. They waited anxiously until everyone was served, then we all enjoyed dinner together with minimal cleanup.

My dog's 12 yo, so i have to feed him on my bed or the couch after moving his food around several times. Then I have to break his food into small pieces so he can turn his nose up at it. As soon as I put the chicken in the floor, the cat 🐈 walks to it, and the dog jumps down to chase him away. He's worth every second of frustration ❤❤❤❤❤

Accommodation is an integral part of labour law, and, thus, K9 law. To avoid issues, grievances, etc., it is best to accommodate. Next, you can put a hole in your floor, at this location, and place a carpeted, reinforced box inside that hole, sufficient in size to accommodate another armchair, for improved ergonomics, such as to place Michael Melnotte at the appropriate height to service Reuben as required. On the basement side, you can put some flashing lights, so nobody bumps into the bump. If that basement bump is above the furnace, it will have to be moved. It's the least you can do.

Our boy has HIS OWN BEDROOM! Totally not kidding. His crate, bed, toys, TELEVISION, bookcase w/ pics of his fur parents on a shelf all in there. Even has BULLDOG ARTWORK (original paintings) on the wall. We’ve put a large air purifier in there (EVERY bulldog parent knows why) and a high end nanny cam that allows us to talk to him when we’re not home. We know…we’re hopeless, he’s spoiled…and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
