If you assume everyone should love their parents, that's speaking from the privilege of having good parents. Some of us really aren't so fortunate, and are wisest to cut them out of our lives, as should be done with toxic people. It's time to destroy this thing of putting parents on a pedestal. They're just humans. Some are great, many are decent, and some are awful. Just as a toxic co-worker or landlord needn't be forgiven, the same goes for parents, other family, really anyone...

4:03 It’s a real awakening to our mortality when these family moments happen. My 94 year old dad came to live with me just after covid lockdown. We sometimes watch old ww2 movies and see the Nazis doing their evil deeds, that’s when I look over at my dad and realise he was actually alive in ww2 and saw the Nazis first hand. Yes it's an uncomfortable truth, time passes so quick, seing your parents grow old makes you feel this. Makes you also feel how precious the times with them are, and makes you (makes me) feel that there's always an age for something. Like 20's is the age of youth and mistakes, 30's is the age of to slow down and start maybe a family and 40's is the age where you realize what you did with your life, you have (or not) a family and you have a perspective of life and how did it went. Or you have no perspective at all but hangovers last way longer. I'm also on my 40's and man, it all went so quick. I know I've missed some chances, I know what I know and I know how did i ended up here in every aspect of life and the upcoming is unknown, sometimes don't you feel like emptyness? Like not knowing what are you supposed to do next? Not retire in 30 years, but on the meantime. Ahhh well, sorry for this. Happy 70th to your dada Casey! Mine is 73, mum is 83. All the best

Watching Casey and tying this with the whole overarching theme of the vlog it amazes me how he talks about when it was him who was the grandkid visiting his Nana and now his kids are doing the same with his Dad it gives you that "maaaaaaaaaan where did the time go?" reaction, plus his Dad looks great for 70!

I lost my father at the age of 95 he passed away this past Christmas day 2022. The time flies by, and before you know it your time is done on this planet

So great for you to get to celebrate with him! I threw my mom a 70th birthday party and it was awesome to give back to her after all she had done!

Happy birthday Mr. Neistat, you look great in the opinion of a 63 year old Canadian. May you have many more. Casey I appreciate you sharing your life moments with us, I don't have family per se and my biological daughter doesn't live with or near me so living vicariously through your family is very warming.
