This is a reuploaded video. Apologies to everyone that commented in the first video, but just like the Cine Reel Projector that I did a while back, it doesn't sit right with me publishing stuff when the person(s) sending the message(s)/taking the video footage didn't ask for it to be on KZbin, so rather than feeling bad for the next few days, it is easier for me to cut it out and reupload it, nobody is missing anything of any great interest. The video should be about fixing, and now it is. 100% it is not a burner phone.

I totally get your feeling (19:50) about the fix not being very interesting or satisfying for you, even though the item is now working, and, for me at least, it's the same as a viewer. If it was your own possession and you just wanted it to work again then this would be great, and likewise if you were someone attempting to fix things to sell on then this would be the best news. But for the purposes of being an entertaining video, "oh, corroded terminals" or "ah, another dead battery" is rather dull. The fault-finding, and it potentially being an unusual or complex fault, is where it's at.

My old dad (RIP) had no idea how to use a smartphone. He was good with your so called "burner phone" only he was not a criminal and topped it up at ASDA when he went shopping. His entire Mafia contacts were me, my brother and my mum. If he needed to call the doctor then he would ask me how.

Me screaming in my head 'It's the switch Vince'.😂😂. Gameboy's are notorious for the switch getting gummed up over the years. I've managed to fix numerous GB's over the years, just by cleaning the on/off switch ❤❤👍🏼👍🏼

It’s an old myth that the police can’t trace a burner phone, the reality is it can be traced as the police use mobile cell masts to pinpoint where the calls are made and it still be downloaded to get data off it, ie messages and call logs etc, if caught.

Whenever I dispose of a phone (or laptop), I ensure that any personal data on the device is well beyond recovery. With laptops I can pull the hard drive; with phones I need a hammer. 😊

I bought one of those Imo phones for about £10 from Tesco about 3 years ago for my mum who was in a care home so I could call her and chat. She died in January and I brought her phone home with all her other bits and pieces. Last week I was going through all my old phones and tablets checking which work and which don't prior to listing them on Marketplace or Ebay and found that the battery in Omi was badly blown.

If it wasn't a burner phone, maybe you can turn it into one, Vince! Looks like one of those very common Nokia style batteries (BL-5C or similar), which are useful to have on hand on their own. What about a burner Gameboy though? I don't know what that would be, but maybe. I have to say, those unlit LCD screens don't look too great in this day and age, yet back in the day we were happy to play on them. Honestly, I find battery corrosion to be kind of neat to fix, but probably mostly when it's more severe, ruining traces and the like. Lots of work though.

Another interesting one Vince. The Pokémon game has an internal clock ran by a small lithium coin battery which is inside the game. This will have likely failed, could be worth taking the game apart and spot welding a new coin cell in there (2032) from memory but I could be wrong

I had the original paused before he turned on the phone. I went back to it and I was able to watch it fully, even the parts that weren't pre-loaded, which is weird. Would expect it to not load new parts after it was privated.

Those phones are also used by people who can't afford a monthly bill for cell phone cause there was many times it was me eat or have a phone and with a prepaid phone you don't have to keep minutes on it for two or three months before they transfers the number to someone else
