I am slowly shifting my bathroom supplies to zero/low waste alternatives and trying to move away from the plastic too where practical. I was gifted a makeup cloth (I’m assuming it is polyester/microfiber) and while I don’t wear much makeup when I do it is really nice to just wipe off before oil cleansing. My upcoming switches are washable cotton rounds for putting on toner and bar shampoo, although I still have quite a bit left in my bottle.

Natural fibers tend to stain. Polyester, depend on the make, tend to not stain.

Polyester production has a lower environmental impact than natural fibres production in terms of water usage and wastewater. ... As an oil-based plastic, . Rather it stays in landfill for several decades at least - and potentially for hundreds of years.
