Could have been a lot simpler by using TP4056 and a petty S9012 transistor. But as you had to use some pcb, even this design is appreciable:)

Hi, thanks for this....really great video and presentation. A question I have is whether the housing for the solar light will melt if left out in the harsh sun. Have you had this problem?

Use PETG or ABS filament, there will be no issue. Don't use PLA for outdoor use.
