Gonna stick w/ my aerostich. I like Rev’it and have a lot of their gear, but Aerostich is very hard to beat, including for sizing variables like short, long, etc.. It just fits AND there’s repair for it which this would not nearly as readily have.

I just bought one from Cycle Gear. Both zippers on the legs and body were stuck, and i thought they were broken. I took it back to a local store, and they showed me where and how to fix the stuck zipper. I rode home in 38-degree weather, and with my heated gear, I just got I was perfect. I'm changing my post to reflect this. I really like this suit, and I'm going to get a lot of miles out of it.

I also bought one recently and had the right leg zipper get stuck at the top. I actually had to get someone to help me unstuck it! I thought I was going to break it. That, combined with the main long zipper being so stiff that I could barely move it, made me uncomfortable with the thought of keeping it long-term. Also sent it back. The main zipper had no flap covering it, so keeping water out relies entirely on the zipper itself. That means if the super breaks in and loosens up, it may not be as watertight. Then I looked at the website and found a whole page ondetailing how to care for the zipper. Plus, one pocket? Come on!

@@charlesrempel1681 I was excited about this new product and thought I'd have for years. You'd think they'd do a recall.

Is your heated gear wired to the bike or battery powered? If wired, how do you feed the wire through the suit? Thanks
@markinsacramento
@markinsacramento Жыл бұрын
@takeabloodychillpill I run it through the top of the suit at the neck. I bought a 24" and a 36" extension that runs to the provided cable set that goes to the battery

Concur on the right leg being hard to do wearing say bulky adventure boots, but at least unlike the Klim offering I could get my Gaerne Dakars to work with the suit. I think with the TZip this might actually be more waterproof then an AS R3, since it's not as prone to water coming through if you don't fold quite right. I found the Large-Regular to be a bit long for my 5'10" body, 32" inseam - so I get some extra material on the thigh area. To be fair to Rev'it, this is a hard problem - especially since I'm usually a Large jacket but Medium pant from them.

Tbh the boot removal doesnt seem like that big a deal. I don't think there's a scenario where I'd have casual clothes on underneath that I'd wear with my big bulky adventure boots at my destination...

Klim suit has not this problem with the boots. I have been using it for years and it is great for commuting home-office-home. BUT, it is quiet stiff and don’t wear a suit underneath otherwise you will like you didn’t iron your suit and shirt (personal experience). I haven’t tried it in summer though.

Do you guys size this for your body or size up since you’re typically wearing this over layers/clothes?
@RevZilla
@RevZilla Ай бұрын
You should size it for whatever you are riding the most. If you always have layers underneath, go with that measurement. However, for safety gear, the closest you can get to your own measurements, the better use the armor / abrasion layers are in the event of an accident.

@ thanks, what I figured. I’d purely only be using this in the “winter” so would always have layers but also don’t like baggy/loose layers.

I have seen this suit previous to watching your video and I'll say the same here: this is for commuters, not for sport/sport-touring/touring riders. I completely disagree with you regarding the 400D Cordura vs. heavier material like on the Aerostich Roadcrafter and R3 (500D body with 1000D high-abrasion areas). I wouldn't trust this at more than city speeds to protect my skin. Certainly, the CE Level 2 armor is excellent in the Rev'it! suit and the back protector is value-added (as opposed to optional with Aerostich). Also, the lack of pockets is a big downside for more than a commuter who only needs access to perhaps their wallet or to carry a Fast-Pass type of road/bridge toll pass. As you mentioned, depending on the boots, you probably will need to remove them to get into this suit, not an issue with an Aerostich. All of the adjustment straps seem fiddly (although perhaps you just adjust them once and forget it?) while the Aerostich suits are available in a vast multitude of men's and women's sizes as well as offering a myriad of customizations (for example, you could get the upper leg lengthened and the lower leg shortened on the same suit!). I'm surprised that you, Spurgeon, care so much about appearance with your riding gear over function. I'm now starting on my *fourth* Aerostich (an R3 that I haven't yet worn). Over the 20+ years I have been wearing them, I've yet to see more than a handful of legitimate competitors for this type of suit but most of those are aimed more at the off-road ADV rider than on-road riders. While I could have gone with another product this time, I just don't see any as durable, useful and protective as the Aerostich Roadcrafter and R3. This Rev'it! doesn't meet the mark.

How do people use this for commuting in the cold without internal thermal lining? Torso I get, you can use a jacket or something similar. But the legs, with just jeans, that just outright cold.

these reviews I absolutly hate, for the reason being of how easily it can be taken off, and put back on. Do you need to take off your shoes? how large of shoes do they work with? Same with your overpants review. easy on and off for going to work? I dont want to take off my shoes and boots for this kind of thing,
