Rev problem - increases rpm after letting off throttle

Rev's drop for a second but then come back up 500-700rpm for a few seconds before settling back down to a proper idle.

Rpm that goes up higher than normal after shifting gears is a problem with flywheel maybe worn down.

I have ah doubt, I've seen a Volvo multi axle bus,when the bus stopped and moves that engine makes more noise(Revs high) why it happening???

I know nothing so grain of salt here. My car is revving when I let go of the gas. What I've gathered, it's probably an air intake problem. I saw someone put Transmission in the comments. Try everything you can do yourself before you take it to a mechanic. If anything your knowledge of the car's problems will cut down on unnecessary repairs and labor.

i hawe simular problem when i shift from 1st to 2nd gear revs stay high (dont fall for split second), and if i release clutch during "high rpm" car jurks in very anoying way... i must wait until revs get to 100-250 less, so it doesn't jurk

had this similar problem on my ford mondeo mk3 2.0 tddi, the alternator was bad and it shorted, making the injection pump, pump fuel when not needed. replaced it and it was all good after that. check for shorted circuits

I have a 2016 suburban from being completely stopped to taking off barley pressing the gas rpm’s rev up to 2000 is that normal use to owning bmws my first truck ever

Im having a similar issue instead it simply gets stuck no movement at all when letting off gas sometimes. Same thing on a somewhat hard acceleration. Once i give it full gas it’ll accelerate like normal. Idk wtf it could even be i cant find people with similar issues. Other than that it drives fine and doesn’t do it that often which doesnt make me think its the transmission

@@isaiahjimenez5120 Mine went away on its own, but after doing some research problems with the intake such as a leak could cause this.

I have a 2008 ford v 10 when I come to a stop at a light it accelerates on its own and with my foot on the brakes I turn it off and on about 5 times then it goes in to idle scares the crap out of me does anyone have any problem like this I change the throttle body and both sensors and also gas pedal

I have a high throttle up (revs high) as I approach a stop. Really scary when this happens (randomly). I hold the brake hard and my back tires spins due to the power of the vehicle! I learned to just cut off the ignition key, stop, and then re-crank and all is fine. I've replaced everything you can imagine, throttle sensor, TPS, idle control switch, cleaned all throttle parts, injectors, manifold seals, etc. Nothing has worked. I'm now thinking it's related to the Brake Booster. I've ordered one and will let you know if it works.

tried MAF Cleaner yet? That influences the Air Mix so can affect Throttle but is mainly a Startup issue until warm after 30secs for me. Ordered MAF Cleaner.

@@andrewwarner8130lmao, I swear I always hear people say it’s the fuel pump when they have no idea what is happening. You are not the first one and certainly won’t be the last one. Maybe that’s the most fancy word you guys have ever learned and that’s why you use it whenever you can. Man I am so triggered by the “fuel pump” bullshit

2015 ford fiesta revs up when cold start to 1.3 then drops to one then 1.3 again it’s very little but just wondering what it is and when the car warms up stops doing it

It's doing exactly that. It's warming up the oil in your engine. When oil cools down it tends to solidify slightly. So the engine runs at slightly higher rpms to warm up. Most people will say to wait for the engine to warm up before you drive but you don't have to

It has to do with throttle body. Depemdimg if its electric or mechanical ur solution will vary but its def a throttle body issue

I have same problem with my 2011 Ford C-Max 1.6 Ecoboost. It started happening after timing belt change. Do you have any resolution or idea for solving this problem. Car service can't find anything..

@@gabblem.777 It was because of the firmware. Service deleted all firmware and reinstalled it. It solved problem.

What would cause engine to surge up and down as i am slowing down, for example as i slow down from 50mph, it shutters at around 30mph, then at 20mph, and one last time just before completely stopping at about 10mph...does it sound like a transmission issue?...or more like an engine idle issue like throttle body or similar engine issue?...thank you

Sounds like a transmission issue to me. It must be an automatic you are talking about I assume.

I literally have the same problem car Rpm goes up and down as I’m slowing down around 20-40mph it feel like if I’m tapping the gas back to back when I’m actually braking

My Audi did that. But I always took it as a feature. I would shift at 2500 it would rev hang there at 1500, which was exactly where the next gear was.

Well, since then I've removed and cleaned the intake plenum, deleted the swirl valve system, deleted most of the vacuum lines, and had fresh premium fuel. I haven't driven it much for the past 2 years but I think it seems to be better now, so who knows, it may have just been some bad gas.

Not really. I have not been driving it for a year now. its just been sitting. I'm pretty sure it's a vacuum leak somewhere though.

@@mongolchiuud8931 that sounds differnt than what it was doing to me. It only did it while idling. If it was under load like when its in gear it wouldn't do that. I actually just had it back on the road recently and it seems to be working better now. I thnk it may have been the idle are control or the throttle body. I cleaned it out. Also the gas was old so now after running a couple tanks of high octane gas through it it seems to be better.

I think it is still going to do it intermittently though, so I am planning on replacing the pcv valve since that could potentially be the issue. But its a peta to get at.

Check your throttle position sensor, or if yours uses a throttle cable (one you can tug on under the hood), check it for looseness. Could also be a vacuum leak. ChrisFix has a good video on finding vacuum leaks with. Shop vac or leaf blower. Let me know what you find.
