Thank- you for this interview and information. I walked the Camino Frances in 2013 from St. Jean pied de port to Burgos, and then finished in 2019. Would love to do the Via Francigena, in fact I will be in Tuscany with family this Sept. so I will be looking for signs. 😊

Rev. Sandy Brown is a real gem. I've been getting very interested in these various pilgrimages and have come across many of his videos. He's really an expert on these walks. My first pilgrimage will be the Via de Francesco (Way of St. Francis), hopefully, soon. Thank you for speaking with him.

We are very grateful that Rev. Sandy Brown has shared his knowledge on Via Francigena with us. His guide books on Camino Frances, VF and Via de Francesco are well researched and very easy to understand, and highly recommanded.

Great interview ! In the northern portion of Italy you will find more dishes cooked with wine, rice and butter due to the geographic location next to French/Swiss borders and the rice fields of the Po Valley. As you progress southward you encounter more tomato based dishes due to, again, the difference in climate and the prevalence of the tomato growing sunshine region of Emilio Romania. (sic).

Yummy, that is great to know. So surprised to hear Po Valley has rice fields. More reasons to walk the VF!
