SaMakunike was laid to rest at Old Mutare Cemetery on 11 September 2021
The family of Rtd Rev Willas Charles Makunike “aka SaMakunike” would like to thank you all for putting together a beautiful farewell for our precious father, son, grandfather, Reverend and head of clan.
Each of you brought something special to make it a beautiful celebration of his life. Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the wonderful job that you did in logistics, donations, and attending the funeral. There was no detail that was not addressed or taken care of which lightened the heavy burden of laying him to rest as a family. You have been a great comfort to our family during this time of great sadness. Everything was planned and executed perfectly. We couldn't have asked for more. The entire Makunike family appreciates your time and sacrifice. We know it wasn't easy for you to get to the funeral considering the difficult times we are in due to the Covid-19 pandemic and economic hardships, but we're glad you made it a priority. It made a world of difference. We are encouraged and blessed to know that SaMakunike is in the company of our Lord.
We cannot end without mentioning the Nyakatsapa Community, where SaMakunike’s heart lies, thank you for taking care of your son until his last days.
United Methodist Church, a church Sekuru Makunike served for his entire life, the Makunike Family appreciates you for honoring him by giving him a resting place where high-ranked church officials have rested. As we continue celebrating and remembering Rtd Rev Willas Charles Makunike’s life, may our dear Lord give us strength to continue from where SaMakunike left off.
