The doll isn't misshapen at all ! They just rounded out cleos face in that doll mold since that doll is a rerelease from 2014-15 !! That aside the work u did on cleo is absolutely spectacular!

I actually liked the flatter face on the other Cleo doll - made her look more ethnically diverse. I think the head you swapped out could make a good head for an Asian-inspired doll! :)

@National Socialism I have no idea who told you the people who needed a dark pigment around their eyes due to the sun and quite literally worked days and days under the heat were white in the slightest. As they evolved through time, the pigmentation of the skin got darker. However, this isnt to say some parts of egyptians were lighter. As we see today, there is a gradation of skin towards Sudan. Some might have been white in race due to Greece - their skin was most definitely darker than a Europeans.

The really interesting part is Cleopatra VII Philopator, didn't even live during ancient Egyptian times, the pyramids were already thousands of years old by the time she was around. It really starts to put into perspective how fucking old Egyptian history is.

The face mold difference is probably due to the signature doll being a later release, you can tell by her clothing, after a few re-releases they started giving her a simple black edge on her top instead of the lace in earlier releases

Every single time I watch these I desperately wish doll manufacturers had better technology to print more unique, detailed, and modern designs on their dolls, It’s such a shame that doll designers have to be restrained by the limitations of their printers, because watching faceups like these really shows how incredible dolls could be if that barrier wasn’t there.

This is based on the fact that her Macedonian Greek family - the Ptolemaic dynasty - had intermarried with the Seleucid dynasty that ruled over much of West Asia.’ I think people get ethnicity and nationality mixed as she was born in Egypt and spent her life there.

I love the gold in the hair, I'm so glad you were able to work it in and make it look elegant rather than.... (I have adjectives for this but they're all too mean, so let's go with-) not. The kohl looks great, and I loved hearing the background about it too! She has a gaze that makes sense for a powerful female ruler who ruled with her intelligence rather than seductive powers: smart, assessing, thoughtful. The historical information was quite enjoyable too, very beautiful face up too! The metallic paint was an excellent touch! As for the next doll, I’d say Lagoona could use your magic touch poor thing.

I'm glad that you keep the original outfits for each doll instead of making new ones! it makes it so interesting because it feels like an actual revamp. Usually a lot of the revamps I have seen they even redo the clothing into something else. It makes the dolls feel like the originals in a way. Its like originals with your own kind of twist to it and that's what makes them so unique I love them so much! its amazing what you do!

Actually, watching a doll face-up AND a history lesson that corrects misinformation and deliberate character assassination about a prominent female ruler is SO UP MY ALLEY. I love and appreciate it. I hate that sexuality is used to demean historical figures -- sometimes male too, but usually female. Your mini-rant and this face-up are a nice tribute to history. And film history. I think this revamp really suits her character. Cleo has always strikes me as the rich girl who always flaunts her fortune and status as royalty. This look really shows how she flaunts her status and her culture while making it look like she's still fresh off a runway not just fresh out a sarcophagus. Like she'd definitely brag about every little detail of her look and it's historical meaning.

Its kinda weird how Cleopatra's sexuality has become demonized when Hathor, a goddess known just as much for her sexual nature as her nurturing and motherly one, was such a prominent deity in ancient Egypt. Almost makes you wonder where such a narrow world view might have come from... (@ Christian colonizers reducing any vaguely sexual/romantic religious figures to "fertility goddesses" 👀)
