Goodness, several things: 1) I was absolutely gobsmacked by how perfectly squared those hedges were around your croquet lawn!! Kudos to the guy with the measuring stick...whoever he may be! 2) Thank you for highlighting Beaufort & Blake. I've checked out their website and must say I love their offerings. My four adult children will all find something from B&B under their Christmas trees this year! PS: I probably will, too. 3) I was totally blown away by the little sunroom off your chapel bedroom. The minute you opened that door, I was in love! Quite small for a bathroom, but the view makes it totally amazing! Luke, while you might think frosted windows are important, please remember we're not all shy. Having said that, no, I totally would not share a bathroom. I'm jiggy with sharing with family members, but total strangers are a no-no. Diseases and all that stuff. 4) Luke, I worry about you. I've noticed your pants pockets are always full. Do you know that over the years all that weight can take a toll on your hips/back? I think I've been watching you too long, as I'm beginning to feel like the Great Aunt Martha you always feel duty-bound to invite.

I have read that some estates used sheep to keep grass short. They’d just move them off the lawn to a pasture afterward. I’d guess the youngest gardeners then had to pick up what the sheep left behind.

If the poo is not picked up and a mobile chicken coop follows the flies that come to the poo lends to great food for the chickens. See Seven Sons, YT channel. Remaking poo once dry can be raked into the lawn as fertilizer.

I’ve stayed in B&B’s in New England where you typically had both options (shared bathroom or en suite). The prices would be noticeably different depending on this. Most people would want it to be in the same corridor/ relatively nearby. I have to add, while sharing was fine in my early 20s, now in my 30s I wouldn’t book without my own bathroom.
@lindapeterson26842 жыл бұрын
I like the laundry hamper too💗I have been to yoga retreats where you can bunk in rooms and there is a large shared bathroom💗 when l was younger that wasn’t a problem at all. Now that l’m older A private room with an ensuite is more appealing, and I wouldn’t mind if it occupied one other person, like a friend and we came together and shared the room. You could have several options of room types and costs.

I have stayed in England and Wales at several manor houses where there were two or three rooms close to a bath in the hall. Only the most expensive Suites had its own bathroom

Different prices for en-suite or not might make it more enticing for people who want to go but would appreciate a slightly lower price.

Beaufort and Blake should do a product photo shoot at Mapperton, either for print or digital media. It would be a great co-branding opportunity for both parties! Great video, so glad the SCPF was a smashing success! Much love from CT, USA!

Hello from an American in Switzerland! If I came for the yoga retreat, a private bathroom would be lovely, but I would also share or use an outhouse. No problem. The English countryside is beautiful in any form. I Love all your creative projects and videos, which are such an important part of British history. I too, have links to Britain in my family's past and hope to visit Dorset and your amazing estate one day in the not too distant future. 💕❤ to all at Mapperton.🌺

In an older home I wouldn't really expect an ensuite bathroom. A shared one down the hall would be fine (similar to older hotels I've stayed at in London).

You might want a “classic” tub but one of the issues with them is that if you step wrong, they can tip… don’t ask me how I know :-) It’s clear I’m going to have to learn yoga to justify a trip to Mapperton, perhaps in a year or two. I’m 61 and while a private bath would be nice, sharing with another person is ok too. Glad your plant fair was such a success and yes, invest in another coffee maker for the cafe! Best to you all from Austin, TX.

A bit of trivia while reading the eulogy of Peter Bowles of ‘To The Manor Born’ fame with the wonderful Penelope Keith - his father was a valet to Drogo Montague, son of the Earl of Sandwich. Julie was that the 9th Earl and Alberta Sturges? Life imitates art in a weird reverted sort of way.

Wow, what a great turn out of guests! Don't turn that beautiful sunroom into a bathroom. Just needs some cleaning up plus chairs and a table. If your doing a Bed and Breakfast. May I suggest taking a bedroom and convert it into 2 bathrooms. My parents have a 14 room house that has 2 bathroom for 6 bedrooms on the 2nd floor to share and an additional 2 bathrooms on the 1st floor. However, that is basically all just family and close friends.
