You missed half of the story. Russia has been tapping syrian soldiers for a long time for one way trips to Ukraine which has depleted the syrian army. From Ukraines point of veiw the benefit is two fold, one is stopping syrian fighters from being enlisted by Russia to fight in Ukraine, the other is when Russia loses its naval port and airfields in syria then it loses its influence in african countries in which it has also been tapping for cannon fodder. Ukraine is winning the strategic element of this war by miles. Also i wouldnt be surprised if some of israels knocking out of syrian weapon storage facilities isnt a underhand thankyou to Ukraine

Now they’re having to pack in up and accept they’ve gone down from a world power to a regional power over 150 $300-500 FPV drones. I’m really surprised Ukraine hasn’t thrown some sea drones into a 18 wheeler driven them to the Mediterranean Sea

Not 100% correct, the other bases were in the Aleppo area and caused huge material losses for the Russians and huge material gains for the rebels. The very quick downfall of Aleppo, showed the weakness of the Syrian Army. The bombardment of Hospitals by the Russians didn't impress the Rebels anymore. And the Russians could not cope with the Blitzkrieg advancements towards Damascus. Of great importance was the know how transfer, the Ukrainians trained Syrians as drones operators and the build instructions to build more drones by Syrians on their own were handed to the Syrians.

@@yodieyuh Russian propaganda. There was no 'violent insurrection'. There were nationwide mass protests to remove Russian puppet Yanukovych which had been installed by Russia in a fraudulent election from office, protests which were peaceful until Yanukovych ordered his armed forces to open fire on the peaceful and unarmed crowds of protesters, unaliving hundreds of Ukrainians, after which the protests turned violent. Yanukovych then fled to Russia to his master Pootin. And those 'rebels' asking Russia to invade were a minority of ethnic Russian separatists which started the violence in the Donbas and held it hostage, backed by Russian armed forces and mercenaries from across the border and led by Russian officers, as admitted by Russian separatist leader Igor Girkin. Had Russia minded its own business and not been meddling in Ukraine for decades, none of this would be happening. Russia started all of this. So right. I remember during the first Gulf War, GEN Schwarzkopf had a great analysis of entering a minefield. He said " Do you know how many mines have to be in a minefield to be effective? ...just one. On mine is enough to effect the psychology of your enemy. This holds true with the FPV drone use described here in Syria. The Syrian Army was defeated when the first FPV was deployed and there could be no cover or counter.

Explaining. 1. Strategy vs. tactics 2. Before the recent offensive, the US approached Assad and offered a deal that he would be allowed to stay power if he cut off Hezbollah. He declined. 3. The Syrian government was analogous to the Pahlavi government in Iran - control of major cities . Syria was worse in that the Syrian government dynasty had actually pounded cities during its reign. Absent weapon systems given to the Syrian government by Russia and Iran, it would have fallen years ago. 4. For years, the Israelis were fastidious in attacking Iranian supply depots in Syria while avoiding Syrian military installations. For many years, Iranian supplies would come into Syria by truck. It changed and Iranian supplies to Hezbollah were brought in by SU76 transports to the Russian air base and stored separately. So a few months ago, Israel struck the Iranian warehouses at the airfield and avoided destroying Russian aircraft and supplies. 5. You need to not see the world as Texas . . . paved and broad highways, plenty of rest stops, some semblance of order and see it like Afghanistan. Poor roads, no rest stops, police and military units regularly raiding dissidents and periodically engaging in fire fights locally. 6. Israel destroys existing supply depots and vehicles by air. UA provides the drone operators to gain real time information on Syrian Army movements, positions and destroys some Syrian Army positions. The Syrian Army does not have experienced drone operators and probably very few drones. 7. 170,000 troops deserted during the Syrian civil war and form the nucleus of the Free Syrian Army. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syrian_Armed_Forces. So you don't have a US Army at the beginning of December 2024!

Ukrainian special forces have a lot of experience when during the Kharkiv and Kursk offensives they broke through the Russian lines. Russian forces there have limited numbers. They used air support for the Syrian army but it didn't help. Without boots on the ground, the air power is nothing.

The fall of the Assad regime is a huge boon for Ukraine. As far as labelling HTS terrorists, that's being reevaluated by many right now. Probably not accurate as HTS cut ties to their former extremist allies back in 2018. I also find it hard to believe that Ukraine would actively aid real terrorists just to get at Russia. It would not make sense and would be totally counter productive. For some reason Turkey doesn't get any flak for supporting HTS.

I would guess it was like the German Stukas first using their sirens. In 1940 when the French first heard them, it terrorized them, largely because it was entirely a novel thing. But that effect wore off pretty quickly in Russia as troops came to understand that although you heard the siren and you thought the Stuka was coming just for you, later you discovered that in almost all cases it wasn't coming for you and you could safely ignore the sound for the most part. It wasn't long before the German pilots stopped using the siren because it was annoying for them too... The same sort of thing happened with the advent of the Tiger tank and the T34. First panic, then the realization that it didn't automatically mean there was no way to deal with it.

Okay this is an insane take, but what if Ukraine wants to replace Russia as the East European power? They are making a case for it.

Let's be real here. That was all US and NATO equipment. Ukraine isn't capable of doing all this.

Ukraine has more FPW capabilities than NATO. What is it you think NATO has that HTS got that Ukraine can't supply?

Thanks Paul for explaining how Zelenskyy is totally crumbling in Ukraine. That makes Trump job easier. You got tremendous insight in how Zelenskyy is wasting resources at the wrong spot.

Ukraine is still fighting Russia but through proxy. The fall of the Assad regime not only is a great morale boost for Ukraine but Russian global power is damaged beyond repair. Russians now will have a harder time influencing their puppets in Africa because all the Russian supplies and equipment to Africa needed to go through Syria.

@@planderlinde1969 Ukraine legitimized Russia's operation. Until now the Ukraine position has been that a foreign military entering a sovereign nation to help rebels topple the rightful government is unacceptable. Ukraine as a foreign military just helped rebels topple a rightful government.

@yodieyuh Firstly that has not been Ukraines position. Ukraine's position was that invading a sovereign nation is wrong. The "rebels" you are referring to in Ukraine were separatist factions funded, equipped, and supported by Russia to further Russian interests in Ukraine. The DNR and LNR were not created organically but were just Russian proxy forces. Furthermore the Assad regime may have been the legitimate government of Syria however when the Syrian Civil War started the people of Syria decided that the Assad family and its tyrannical government we no longer to be legitimate and that they wanted a future without Assad.
