You missed half of the story. Russia has been tapping syrian soldiers for a long time for one way trips to Ukraine which has depleted the syrian army. From Ukraines point of veiw the benefit is two fold, one is stopping syrian fighters from being enlisted by Russia to fight in Ukraine, the other is when Russia loses its naval port and airfields in syria then it loses its influence in african countries in which it has also been tapping for cannon fodder. Ukraine is winning the strategic element of this war by miles. Also i wouldnt be surprised if some of israels knocking out of syrian weapon storage facilities isnt a underhand thankyou to Ukraine

Not 100% correct, the other bases were in the Aleppo area and caused huge material losses for the Russians and huge material gains for the rebels. The very quick downfall of Aleppo, showed the weakness of the Syrian Army. The bombardment of Hospitals by the Russians didn't impress the Rebels anymore. And the Russians could not cope with the Blitzkrieg advancements towards Damascus. Of great importance was the know how transfer, the Ukrainians trained Syrians as drones operators and the build instructions to build more drones by Syrians on their own were handed to the Syrians.

@@yodieyuh Russian propaganda. There was no 'violent insurrection'. There were nationwide mass protests to remove Russian puppet Yanukovych which had been installed by Russia in a fraudulent election from office, protests which were peaceful until Yanukovych ordered his armed forces to open fire on the peaceful and unarmed crowds of protesters, unaliving hundreds of Ukrainians, after which the protests turned violent. Yanukovych then fled to Russia to his master Pootin. And those 'rebels' asking Russia to invade were a minority of ethnic Russian separatists which started the violence in the Donbas and held it hostage, backed by Russian armed forces and mercenaries from across the border and led by Russian officers, as admitted by Russian separatist leader Igor Girkin. Explaining. 1. Strategy vs. tactics 2. Before the recent offensive, the US approached Assad and offered a deal that he would be allowed to stay power if he cut off Hezbollah. He declined. 3. The Syrian government was analogous to the Pahlavi government in Iran - control of major cities . Syria was worse in that the Syrian government dynasty had actually pounded cities during its reign. Absent weapon systems given to the Syrian government by Russia and Iran, it would have fallen years ago. 4. For years, the Israelis were fastidious in attacking Iranian supply depots in Syria while avoiding Syrian military installations. For many years, Iranian supplies would come into Syria by truck. It changed and Iranian supplies to Hezbollah were brought in by SU76 transports to the Russian air base and stored separately. So a few months ago, Israel struck the Iranian warehouses at the airfield and avoided destroying Russian aircraft and supplies. 5. You need to not see the world as Texas . . . paved and broad highways, plenty of rest stops, some semblance of order and see it like Afghanistan. Poor roads, no rest stops, police and military units regularly raiding dissidents and periodically engaging in fire fights locally. 6. Israel destroys existing supply depots and vehicles by air. UA provides the drone operators to gain real time information on Syrian Army movements, positions and destroys some Syrian Army positions. The Syrian Army does not have experienced drone operators and probably very few drones. 7. 170,000 troops deserted during the Syrian civil war and form the nucleus of the Free Syrian Army. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syrian_Armed_Forces. So you don't have a US Army at the beginning of December 2024!

I would guess it was like the German Stukas first using their sirens. In 1940 when the French first heard them, it terrorized them, largely because it was entirely a novel thing. But that effect wore off pretty quickly in Russia as troops came to understand that although you heard the siren and you thought the Stuka was coming just for you, later you discovered that in almost all cases it wasn't coming for you and you could safely ignore the sound for the most part. It wasn't long before the German pilots stopped using the siren because it was annoying for them too... The same sort of thing happened with the advent of the Tiger tank and the T34. First panic, then the realization that it didn't automatically mean there was no way to deal with it.
