Hello, Thank you for sharing insightful information on your videos, I am glad I came across your YT channel. Question: Once I pass all 4 exams with 121 credits, how much time do I have to get to 150 & officially get the CPA license?
@JoeyCPA26 күн бұрын
Glad you enjoyed! This is something that differs by state but I think its generally 3-5 years.
@irisahoxha994926 күн бұрын
@ I did actually called the State Board of Accountancy today and the exams do not expire!! Once I pass them all, I can get to 150 credits whenever, which is awesome 😎

Question Joey, I secured a Deloitte Internship in Audit, and I want to start preparing for the FAR part of the CPA exam. Roughly how much should I need to prepare for it before I schedule it? This semester I’m taking intermediate accounting I, and still need to take intermediate accounting II. I want to at least have FAR done by graduation, in August 2025. Thanks!
@JoeyCPA2 ай бұрын
Hey, so are you in a state that allows you to take it before graduation? I would say you need about 30-60 days to prepare and would recommend scheduling it at the start of your study journey and then working towards that date. Because one thing you need to realize is how important that first attempt is. Just get it scheduled and get it under your belt. But this also depends on how much time per day you can allocate for studying. If you're going to study 3-4 hours a day then 30-50 days should be good. But it also just depends on how comfortable you feel with the material. But congrats on the internship! That's awesome!

Hey bro which locations do you really think have the most growth and pay potential for Cpa ? or is it something which is immaterial .
@JoeyCPA2 ай бұрын
like what cities? I think it's not super important. Obviously the bigger cities like New York, LA, Miami, Chicago, etc. will have more opportunities than smaller job markets but you can still have a great career in a smaller city. You just have to work hard, no matter where you are

@@JoeyCPA is seattle good for a headstart ? also do you recommend doing cma after cpa will it add value in the resume ?
@JoeyCPA2 ай бұрын
@@devanshuR1yeah Seattle is great. And I don’t know if anyone who has done the CMA after the cpa, at least not early in their career. It definitely wouldn’t hurt but I honestly don’t know how much it would help either. I think with cpa you’ll really stand out but if you have the drive and ambition to do CMA as well im sure it will look good on a resume. But it’s definitely not necessary

Hey Joey! I am a CA in India, planning to come to USA for Masters along with the CPA. What would be your advice in general!?
@JoeyCPA26 күн бұрын
Hey! I don't know a ton about the process of coming from India but I know Miles CPA specializes in that. But in general, just stay consistent with your CPA studies. It will be difficult at times but it will all be worth it. Oh and don't let them exam scare you too much. Just give it your best and keep at it and you will succeed.

im thinking about going for accounting in college and have been doing my research on it, do u think it's still going to be a good career path now and in the future?
@JoeyCPA2 ай бұрын
I do. I think anyone who is interested in business could benefit from an accounting degree. It gives you a lot of career flexibility and different paths you can go down. It was perfect for me as I didn't (and still don't) know exactly what I want to do. There are plenty of ways my career could go. And it's essential to understanding a businesses finances. Even if you aren't an 'accountant' but have a different role, understanding accounting will be vital. It's much better than just a business degree in my opinion

There's a lot of kool-aid to drink when doing all the accounting/CPA work. Tempting with the money being paid, but its important to think of the hours being sucked away from your family. Interesting career you can have though.
@JoeyCPA2 ай бұрын
definitely. It can become its own world and people do get sucked into the kool aid. But i think most 'normal' people can hopefully see the truth of the situation and realize life is about a lot more than a 9-5 (or in some cases a 9-midnight)
@iAmplify72 ай бұрын
@@JoeyCPA is this really always the case? i heard that the big 4 are hell, but after you get the experience and title, you can switch to private companies and have a lot more work life balance, sometimes at the cost of salary though. i really want to do accounting but i'm getting a little older and scared of being in a trap of being a corporate hustler until retirement.
@JoeyCPA2 ай бұрын
@@iAmplify7big 4 can be hellish during busy season but it just depends on your client. But that’s no reason to not get into accounting. Companies outside the big 4 usually don’t have as bad of hours, but again it depends on your client. At the end of the day it is a corporate job though so it is typical corporate stuff and hours you have to deal with. If you’re ok with that then accounting could work, if not stay away
