Eye protection young man. You never know when that chainsaw hits a knot in those trees and the chainsaw jerks back or something splits and hits you in the face. Make sure to protect your eyes at all times when cutting wood or trees!

I'd also wear a pair of chainsaw chaps because no one expects that saw to get you in the thigh but they can and do. It's not pretty and if you're by yourself, you're in big trouble unless you're fast with a tourniquet.

I had an uncle who told me once he was using a chainsaw and that he hit a knot, and when he did the chain snapped and the end of it slapped him right in the glasses (or goggles?). He likes to make the point that if he wasnt wearing eye protection he'd probably only have one eye

If those are Red Cedar, anything over 10' would have earned you 500-1000 each, delivered to a mill near you. I know it might be a pain to load them, but at that price, you can pay somebody to do the work and take the profit. Consider it when clearing the remaining trees from your long driveway!

Right now I'm really not making too much from views, mainly funding this from my day job as an engineer. But I'll also be fully transparent with build costs and any sponsors.

Did you say unpermitted? If this is not permitted what would be the consequences? I'm asking because I have land in my property and I found out I can't build any other houses unless I split the land :(. For the other structure would it be permitted? Is there a way to workaround the permit approval to keep building additions?

Nice to be in charge of how many trees you can take down and you are doing it carefully! City of Redmond only allows two per year and they have to not require a permit, but you have to replace the two you take down with two new trees as far as I know! Unless you are a developer and you are allowed to clear-cut the property!

sitting on the edge of my seat while you plan and build. when you first showed the pic and asked to give suggestions for names my brain automatically went to The Cubby. then you mentioned cedar so Cedar Cottage came to mind and then the light bulb went on and to hold up name tradition it should be named The Cedar. The Bins little sister.

Are you going to run an extra conduit for communications back to the pacific bin? or is the plan to get extra StarLinks? I'd run fiber optic lines out to the two new structures and connect everything together at the Bin. I have a fusion fiber splicer if you want help, I come out your way a few times a year to work on my own piece of land.

I realize your experience is container builds. I have roughly the same amount for custom build 700k. I wanted to find the most economical build for a custom home. I have a few options, Container, Prefab or a regular build. I'm not very conventional, so i like inviting nature into my build design and am also not a fan of clearing land, prefer dropping the house into whatever forested area I have.
