I would also recommend letting farmers lease your fields to hay. That way you create some sort of residual income, but it allows the farmers to have some land to hay.

There will be thousands, if not tens of thousands of pounds worth of scrap metal in there. Make sure you dispose of it at your local scrapyard yourself and reinvest that money into the land. It will save you a small but noticable amount. Do not let someone take it away. Way too much money involved to just give away. Talk to your scrapyard as there are different grades of metal, shearing is usually clean steel with no wood, rubber or other material attached. My local has it at £300 per tonne. Cable, copper, brass, steel, stainless, batteries, piping, lead, vehicles, plant machinery. Speak to them and see what type of prices they have
