Hi, I'm the one who dated the Mama's Boy. To answer your question Alyx, I stayed because he actually treated me well. I had just gotten out of a 4 year emotionally abusive relationship with a narcissist. Mama's boy, was almost a breath of fresh air after that 4 year ordeal. Anyway, he has a mullet now and builds bird houses ✌✌✌

the secret about the 28 year old that started sobbing when his headlight was out and said his 'easy' job was too stressful makes me think that person has some intense mental health issues like an anxiety disorder or autism (I sometimes experience meltdowns over very small things like that and im possibly on the spectrum, I also am 20 and take my mom with me like everywhere because everyday things can feel extremely overwhelming). that man def needs therapeutic intervention to learn how to become more independent, respect boundaries, handle rejection, and resolve some of those mommy issues tho!

My love language is catering to my man and making sure he knows how much I want him around. It’s really shut me down and shied me away from dating the fact that men take advantage of that! I'm legitimately angry with the mama's boy mother. It's clearly her fault he's the way he is. He needs a ton of therapy and to get away from his mom ASAP. She has screwed him up to no end by not letting go of her attachment to her "baby boy" well past an appropriate age. So now he is completely dependent on her. So unbelievably messed up and selfish.
@letterborneVods2 жыл бұрын
Hm, you sound overly judgmental. You have no idea what might be going on. For example, I would completely fall apart if my mom wouldn’t help me with things (currently getting an autism diagnosis). My younger brother is mentally stuck at around 8-10 because of a learning disability and will never be able to do anything on this own. You’d call my mom selfish just for not abandoning him, which would probably lead to him becoming homeless or being taken advantage and so on? I know you probably did not picture this scenario when you wrote this, but I’m letting you know because your words might really hurt some people. With that said, I guess the main problem is just that you didn’t verbally accommodate for other situations, because in the absence of any disability or mental illness/distress (or any other reason a person might need help) I agree with you, parents should always try their best to help their children achieve the most independence they can.

23:23 NEVER tell your abusive partner you are leaving, especially if you are a woman. You have extremely high odds of being killed by your partner for announcing you're leaving them. If at all possible, contact a helpline or shelter so you have someplace to go. Either leave the house abruptly sometime when they are out, go to work and never come home, or if possible, pack a bag or even all your things if they are gone for a weekend or something. If you have to leave with the clothes on your back, grab your important papers (actually, find a way to sequester these into a bank safe deposit box or something ASAP). Then, later, with the police or other very formal accompaniment (preferably several people), go to your place of residence and pick up your things _with them present in the room with you at all times_. Wishing safety to all of you out there in this situation. Freedom is attainable, both physically and mentally.

@@minafra1717 no I don't believe he was. He was an only child, adopted at birth by older parents. His mother was I think in her mid 70's at the time we were together. She smothered him beyond words. She called him "her special boy" in front of me at one point. I fully believe he is on the spectrum. Throughout our whole relationship I begged him to get therapy. I was in therapy at the time; and while I was improving, he was spiraling. I left before I could watch him completely unhinge. I couldnt take it anymore. He had no sense of self. He turned our relationship into his identity. I explained to him countless times that he needs to be an individual. I couldn't even tell him about my day because if I had a bad day or something he would literally cry at the fact I had a bad day. It got to a point where I could see it was unhealthy for him to be with me. I was patient and tried my best to explain how unhealthy it was to revolve his life around me. He just couldn't understand. I know I hurt him immensely by leaving, but he couldn't see how much he was hurting himself in the relationship. I dipped and never looked back. I care for his well being and I truly hope he gets help in the future. As of now, I know he hasn't gotten help and still believes he's fine (yet gripes on twitter about his "shitty life").
