Was at Revel a week ago. That Ranger is an absolutely gorgeous bike. They were humbled when I told them I was considering between a Yeti and themselves...Then I went to Yeti and couldn't even talk to anyone about their bikes. Guess which brand I'm leaning towards now?

Ibis? Pivot?
@jreh38113 жыл бұрын
My choices came down to Transition Spur, Ibis Ripley, and the Revel Ranger - note I have not ridden any of the bikes. I was ready to pull the trigger on the Ripley but then saw the reviews on the Ranger and it just sounds like my quiver killer. Can't wait to get on it.

Honestly curious - the rock that got into the chainstay - would Revel actually warranty that? Is that a “manufacturing” issue or a rider error?
@sztigirigi4 жыл бұрын
It's probably a design flaw
@samphilx44 жыл бұрын
Marty See I have a carbon bike, its taken big big hits and is still rock solid. Carbon has a much higher failure point than alloy
@sztigirigi4 жыл бұрын
@@samphilx4 It all depends what do you mean by hits. If you mean continuous rock strikes, hitting big drop offs and some more rock strikes then no. Carbon is just not the right tool for that. Here in Alps we have two breads of riders more or less. And the chances that a person on a plastic bike is a rookie or rides strictly park are 90%. If you want to do serious stuff and do it often you need metal.
@revelbikes4 жыл бұрын
We would absolutely warranty that.

Surely they’d have heard or felt a rock down there. I own a rascal, if I were to get a rock in that area, my suspension would have not felt “right”... I’d have stopped in two seconds. Were they trying to see if they could mess something up???

I'm looking at the "technology" page of Revel's website and see a couple photos of the layup process that shows a tech wearing, what appears to be, cotton gloves and also what appears to be ply bridging, major wrinkles, and such. Are those photos representative of the actual frame building process? Quite concerning , to say the least. Toray prepreg is fantastic, but I'm a bit concerned about Revel's layup process.

Minor aesthetic feedback: why the huge black chevy truck in the background? Trucks are cool, I guess, in that they are useful for carrying bikes, but this breed of giant pick-up trucks is more dangerous for pedestrians and bicyclists. As a city biker who also mountain bikes, I view a truck like this more as a weapon than as a cool truck.
