My church-group just started reading *The Revelation of Jesus Christ* and there is a lot more too it than immediately meets the eye.

One interesting detail that never occurred to me is how Jesus took the role of the suffering servant (when the eternal Son was born into human form as Jesus and walked on earth), but after Jesus warns of judgement and provides a way to escape judgement, and ascends back into heaven, Jesus then shows, in the Book of Revelation, that he will return as righteous judge who will knowingly, accurately and proportionally judge the earth. One of the first things Jesus does is to evaluate/judge the seven churches (which seems to match up with 1st Peter 4: 17).

If you read the 1st Chapter of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, you'll notice the one who is speaking to John says in verse 18 & 19 *"I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter..."* It says he that liveth, was dead and am alive evermore which indicates the author is Jesus).
