John could not have written Revelation, it was written sometime between 75 - 90 AD This often confuses people who believe it was the same John apostle of Jesus.

Hello! Just wanted to share some information/reflection. During the time of the first coming, was anyone able to understand the old testament prophecies before Jesus? Nope, not until they were fulfilled through Jesus. God said in Isaiah 29:11-12 that this prophecy was sealed (understanding not available) and that it would be opened/revealed (understanding available) at an appointed time (Hab 2:2-3) which was the time of Jesus' first coming. What exactly were people not able to understand from the prophecies? The realities of their fulfillment, which was why many Jews did not believe in Jesus. The same is said for the book of Revelation. Rv 5 says that the sealed book at the right hand of God was opened through Jesus, but keep in mind that this was only a vision given to the apostle John. This means that the reality/fulfillment of it did not happen with the Apostle John, so the book was still sealed. What does this imply? Unless you know the realities of the fulfillment of Revelation, you are not able to understand this book to its entirety. Remember, the Pharisees, Teachers of the Law, and many other Jews had their own version of who the Messiah was going to be. They never pictured it to be Jesus. Just something to think about! Below is the actual testimony of the fulfillment of Revelation and is available chapter per chapter. I know it is very difficult to believe, but it was also difficult for many people to believe in Jesus at the first coming.

The inclusion of Revelation into canon came at the insistence of Athanasius in the fourth century. Revelation almost didn’t make the cut. “In the early second century, a majority of bishops in Asia Minor voted to condemn the text as blasphemous. It was only in the three-sixties that the church council, under the control of the fiery Athanasius, inserted Revelation as the climax of the entire New Testament.” Also, it is important to clarify that Revelation was an anti-Roman tract, a piece of war propaganda. It was not about the end of the world but the fall of the Roman Empire. It was a letter of encouragement to the followers of Jesus who had recently endured a complete defeat at the hands of the Romans, who stormed Jerusalem, burning down its sacred temple and leaving the city in ruins in 70AD. This was particularly troubling for the followers of Jesus, as they were awaiting his promised return before that generation ended (Luke 21:32), and 70AD was already pushing the limits to meet that time frame. John of Patmos was writing an anti-Roman tract, a piece of war propaganda against the Romans, similar to Winston Churchill's radio broadcasts during the darkest days of World War II. This is why it is written in code. The Whore of Babylon is Rome. The beast with seven heads are the seven hills where Rome and her provinces were situated. The reason this was all written in code was because to write critically of Rome and her emperors was to court death, and ministers wandering her provinces were keen to keep their direct criticisms to themselves.
