George Lilley, Paul isn't speaking about death in 2 Corinthians 5. He is referring to the vision he wrote about in 2 Corinthians 1-10. Paul lamented that after seeing Paradise in a vision he was sent back to his body and was stuck here on earth until Christ's return. Hopefully this is helpful...

There seems to be a lot of Bible verses that infer that we are conscious the moment we die, whether we go to be in the presence of the Lord or we go downstairs, I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living (Matthew 22:32).

Hello friend, I realize it’s a difficult topic but it’s a must to take all the scriptures on the topic and compare them to get the right answer. John 3:16 clearly states …”that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” It doesn’t say both groups get eternal life. The Scripture is clear that God is just in all His ways. There will be a lake of fire at the end that will have eternal results but it will not burn for eternity. What about 2nd Corinthians 5:8 it essentially says that to be absent from this body is to be with the Lord Jesus Christ that would mean or at least suggest strongly that if we're not alive by whatever means that will be in heaven assuming we are born-again believers

Exactly...John 5:39-47 isn’t a story of two dead people having a similar dream while sleeping? The beggar was carried away, when he died, to Abraham’s bosom by angels while the the rich man had died and was buried. And in Hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. (KJV) There is nobody soundly sleeping away...in this passage. This video is slightly off in its teaching. It’s 5:00am and I need sleep, the sleep of this world.

Three Angels Broadcasting Network (3ABN) Hello back, but I’m still of a mind that prior to Christ’s death and resurrection, when someone died the Jewish faith taught you went down, either way, the good held safe in Abraham’s bosom and the damned across the impenetrable void were held in less posh uncomfortable digs, so to speak. When Christ died and went down he freed those that accepted the gospel, the ones held in Abraham’s bosom of course and not the damned. Christ rose with the Saints and all, along with the keys to hell forever having conquered deaths hold over mankind. Since then, the damned still are headed down but now, the unbofied spirits of the dead in Christ do go up to await the final trump where the bodies will arise from the graves and then those alive will be caught up...in the twinkling of an eye to join with Christ for 7yrs, be given the new body, clothed in white. As Paul so longed that he should not be naked, a spirit w/o a body, and prayed for Christ’s imminent return. Now, it’s 4:00am and I rattled this off rather quickly. As you can tell I’m not a Biblical scholar, having ignored several distinct invitations in my life to study... I was always too busy with life and disillusioned by the religions of man. Finally, 9yrs ago, while spending those 9yrs being repaired by the VA after a home invasion...I knew I couldn’t claim my old excuse and started to dig deep into the Bible. Real deep, original languages, word etymologies, commentaries, and contemporary works. After 9yrs I’m firmly convinced of how much I do not know and how wonderfully complex Gods message is. Good question… Moses and Elijah represent two groups of people at the end of time. Elijah was taken alive to heaven in a fiery chariot without seeing death. The righteous alive at the time of Christ’s return will also be transformed and taken to heaven without seeing death. Moses represents those who die and are resurrected at Christ return. Jude 9 points to the special resurrection of Moses from the dead.

What do you do with those scriptures that talk about the rich man and Lazarus alive after death. Lazarus the beggar is in Abraham’s Bosom and the rich man in torment in hades (Luke 16:19-22), also the witch of Endor and Samuel who came up alive in the OT (1Sam 28:15), what about the souls in Revelation that could be seen that were martyred for Jesus. Also what about the scripture that says Jesus led captive captive and gave gifts to men (Eph 4:8), and at the stoning of Stephen (Acts 17:54-59) and he looked up and Jesus was standing to receive him, Moses and Elijah had bodies (Mat 17:1-3) and preaching to the spirits in 1 Peter 3:19 how could that be done if they were asleep? Soul sleep is not Biblical. The term is used but it doesn’t mean asleep, it means with the Lord in a safe place if you’re a Christian. If the Lord is in Heaven that’s where we will be if we’re Christian when we die for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. And to go to heaven you have to have trusted that Jesus died for you and your sins and rose from the dead. I Corth 15:1-4 is the Gospel that we’re meant to believe. We get into heaven and stay out of hell because we have no sin debt to pay because Jesus paid our sin debt for us when we have placed our faith in Him for that! Soul is immortal the word used nephesh: a soul, living being, life, self, person, desire, passion, appetite, emotion. so why do we see LORD GOD in Gen 2 that creates us from the dirt??... but in Gen 1 it says that God created us in Their image and all the herbs, trees, grass - was given to us & the animals for us to eat for food. So in the beginning animals & the humans were vegetarians? Iv read this tons of times and never noticed it written like that before. Its like I have eyes that see now and it looks like TWO creation stories. God in Gen 1 translated from the greek & Hebrew means Elohim and the LORD GOD name translated is Yahweh... So WTFlipp ??? One minute we are eating With the animals and using them to till the ground, in Gen 1, then chapter2 we are dirt, made from dirt and soon eating the animals and we are tilling the ground. What about so many testimonies about people who went to heaven and hell?? The Bible says also that Christ went to the abyss to preach to the souls who died before Noah. Can you imagine an heaven full of sleeping bodies? 😂 What about Matthew 22 verse 32??

All well and good and all biblical truth. However the biblical proof presented will not convince many people who believe you go right to heaven upon death because they do not accept the teachings of the Old Testament on this subject because they believe the death and resurrection of Christ changed all of that. They believe that those who have died since the time of Christ are in heaven with him. How do we convince them of the truth of the whole Bible?

Robert Chance the tongue of God is described as a two edged sword. Old testament and the new testament. Jesus Quoted directly from the old testament an innumerable amount of times, and never discredited the OT because He was prophesied in it hundreds of times! Logic should point to the importance of the OT because that what the 12 disciples used along with the teaching of JesusChrist

Robert Chance sorry if i came off arrogant. My answer to those who dont beleive in the OT as current and important is to tell them that all that Jesus Christ taught was based from what he had learned from studying the OT And spending time in prayer.if that's is what Jesus did,why should we belittle His habit by not doing our selves. The Lord is not inconsistent. So our outlook should be like Jesus' outlook on the OT. Thats what i would say. I hope that answer is decent enough? What do you think?

@@robertchance7797 Well, I will point them to 2 Timothy 3:15-17 KJV. And if they are still not convinced then just leave them alone. Most people believe that error because they depend on their senses as their guide. This is where Satan wants them to be. The doctrine that the soul is *NOT* immortal is so simple and true in the word of God, but the devil has the majority deceived by the testimonies of those claiming to have died on an operating table in the hospital and floating out of their body and saw Jesus or their dead loved ones. Near death experiences is the number 1 deception to keep people from actually seeing Bible truth! And they base those experiences off of those simple scriptures they manipulate to their own ignorance. People tend to read the Bible in haste and think that they don't need to investigate further.
