I built both as a kid and they were the easiest models I had ever built. Monogram military vehicles were always great fitting and looked like the real thing. I think the figures are closer to 1/32nd scale or even 54 mm. Both of these scales were popular at the time the kits were first produced. I like the painting and weathering as most military vehicles have areas of wear but not a lot of chipping. I like the chipping effect but it is often way over done. Your models look great and very realistic with the weathering you did on them. Thanks for sharing this.

I'm amazed at how well this kit has lasted for so long ! I had those kits when they first came out. I was 7-8 maybe ? I remember that they came with a catalogue showing their line of military kits. Back then it was thought to be in 1/32 scale. I spent many hours drooling over the catalogue and dreaming about having them to play with !!! I had several of all of the kits they offered over the years. I'm really happy to see that they have updated the decal sheet to current standards. They even have instrument cluster decals. I'm not sure if the original had more than stars. These kits were some of the original WWII military kits offered. Revell came out with a few as well as Aurora with their tanks. These were the first armour kits. Monogram didn't offer any more kits except for the first batch and went with model cars and aircraft. Revell went on to bring out a whole series of military missile kits from the late 50's into the early 60's keeping up with the country's military advancement. Thanks again for this blast from the past ...

For the price they are nicely detailed and went together so nicely. Thanks for the info.

hpiguys Workshop I agree with you on that. I wonder if they will re-release any more of their kits from way back then.

When this kit came out in the late 50s, Monogram made display kits with a card board display that the truck sat in. Saw one in a Leximgton Ky hobby shop. Have built several since.

What era is the vehicle this kit represents, please? Is it readily available? I also am looking to learn about the 1:35th-scale kit of the M35 U.S. Army Cargo Truck (I think its manufacturer still was AFV Club). Also, is it available?

My wife hates you but I love you, I now have another source for buying models. At the moment they're saying this kit is out of stock but I will be putting it on my watch list. Nice builds.

I hope that you still read your comments of older videos. I have this kit, paid a lot more than you did. I’m wanting to use it for a diorama of a Seabee garage, post Viet Nam era. Do you have a tutorial on making decals? I will want to use USNavy and Seabee identification instead of USArmy or USMC.

Do wheels rotate?
@michaelcanty96523 жыл бұрын
The wheels rotate, the doors and tailgate work. It's a fairly accurate kit but you will need to add plastic to the interior fuel tank which is open. This kit, the Tamiya Panther A from 1970 and the Italeri M109 are my lasting favorites in 1/35 models.

I have always wondered.. Can i tear apart an RC vehicle and put its components inside 1:35 scale vehicles? I will not damage the sprues themselves, idea is to make a movable replica. Do you reckon it is possible to refit one of these kits ?
@hpiguy6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would take extensive work but people have done it.

Those(I believe) were first issued in the early 60's in the dark green box, they are closer to 1/32 scale.

Nice thing about these early kits was they could be played with (to a certain degree) after they were built! Played with mine for a couple years.

Some Monogram kits where that good! What gets me is that kit is a skill level 4?
@hpiguy7 жыл бұрын
They base the skill level on the number of parts now and went to a 5 level rating system.

I had this when it was monogram back in the 70's. Now I re ordered it for my german army truck. I don't like the Germans army truck. So I used this U.S truck as German trucks. They used this u.s truck in the movie Patton as German trucks. I think they also used it in the movie Battle of the Bulge as Gf German and u.s trucks.
