My dad was a navigator over Italy so I had to have this model. I have had the kit for years. Watching your video helps to take the fear out of such a complicated build for a beginner. Dads plane had no guns of bombs since they flew night time reconnaissance. Finally shot down the night before the war ended and landed in a vineyard with no injuries but Dad and the pilot, Dale Keller were captured and thought they were going to be tortured but again the war ended and they were spared.

Oh no! No chipping on mosquitoes because nearly the entire airframe was made of wood. I hate to be the one to tell you - sorry. Otherwise, the end result is quite nice. Thanks for sharing.

Years ago I built the Airfix 1/48 Mosquito and had a similar nightmare with the undercarriage. Finally got it all in only to realise after the glue had set they were back to front, so I had to break them off and redo. It never did sit right. Ended up giving it to a friend who seemed to think it was a work of art, for some reason.

The expressions (or should I say expletives) I used at the time of building bear no repetition here... for the sake of propriety... ;)

Nice job. Just a tip for the next time you glued something in the wrong way. Don't use the saw, just apply Tamiya thin Cement ones more, wait some time and you can take the parts away. The glue resolves the already fixed older glue ;-)

I'll keep it in mind, but I honestly wish that I won't have to use that tip ;) Thank you nonetheless, it's a useful one! :)

Nice work! I'm currently building the same model and it needs a lot of patience for sure... :-) I haven't built models in roughly 40 years, but still I didn't hesitate to get a level 5 model to begin with... LOL I wish I had paid more attention to the beginning of your build as that would have saved part of my sanity as I painted a lot of the parts before assembling them, which meant I had to scape the color off since the parts wouldn't stick together if they were painted, I use a brush to paint though...
@wbpsmodels34523 жыл бұрын
Not the easiest model to re-start with, especially the landing gear... Good luck with your model! Thank you for watching!
@ElTeesModellingCorner3 жыл бұрын
@@wbpsmodels3452 I just got to the landing gear part of the build... My first mistake was painting the parts before assembling them and my second mistake was actually following the instructions on how to put it together... Fortunately I've managed to keep calm so far, but had I not cut the engine cover open the landing gear would have ended up in the trash can... Hahahahaha...

Another good effort - not sure if you have already corrected the exhausts (they're upside down). Good techniques, you're definitely improving with each build.

Where did you get the jig/stand holding the model while you painted? I was salivating.
@wbpsmodels34524 жыл бұрын
The wooden stand It's made by a guy here in Greece. He makes several wooden jigs for modellers, using a laser cutter and clever planning. I'll ask him if he's interested in shipping abroad. The glass rotating plate is from an old microwave oven.

All that careful painting but you did little with those awful seams on the fuselage and around the engine necelles? And the Mosquito was made primarily of wood so if there would only be chipping around the engines where metal was used.
@BeaRrug664 жыл бұрын
Would there be chipped paint, showing silver on the Mossy? It was made of wood.

That's why I chipped only parts that were aluminum like wing joints.. I hope I didn't overdo it.

Really beautiful. How long did it take you?
@wbpsmodels34523 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! :) The total time from opening the box till putting it to the display, was something near 20-25 days (if I remember correctly)... However, not all time was spent on the build.. sometimes it takes 2-3 days between sessions (waiting for the paint to cure or the glue to set etc)... and sometimes i'm too busy (or too tired) to even get into the "workshop"... The actual work time (cleaning, assembling, painting, weathering) for the build was no more than 72 hours... (For a more precise answer I need to add the total video time and multiply it by 2)..
