One of the most amazing pieces of music ever written and might I say the best performance I’ve ever heard!

Larry Glass, I was the piccolo player on this recording,I hope you enjoyed the musicality of the piece, I went on to be the one the flautist in the Cleveland orchestra under Zell, thank you Bill

Were you in the Michigan Band when they made their USA tour in the late sixties? I saw them at Florida State University. Every number was definitive band perfection ! I also got to play under Dr Revelli when I played in the Troy University Band. He was guest conductor. Wonderful memories. I have also watched the videos of him here at you tube. I love one where the entire Michigan Stadium salutes him at a game. standing ovation !

i absolutely love this...the days when the term "symphonic band" meant something...wind bands playing music that was as high art as the symphony was for an orchestra...all i hear today is cheesy medleys of showtunes, pop music, and movie scores

From the moment of that first Tpt. fanfare, one is hooked on the quality of the sound, to say nothing of the the amazing technique! Bravo!!

I had William Revelli for a band camp during the summer of 1976 at West Texas State University. What an intense director! But he did amazing things with us in the one week he had with us!

This was one of the "required" numbers for the 1969-1970 high school band contest. I just didn't have the skill to get my band to recreate this sound I had in my head, not to mention the technique it requires for all the sections. A joy to hear again in my old age.
