Tavis is the kind of guy who you'd hire to vet an extremely expensive card collection in person before forking over the cash. The experts in that room have just massive amounts of knowledge that I could never hope to take the time to learn myself. I think when you speculate with investing massive amounts of capital into cards for gains, you need these guys just as much as a corporation needs lawyers.

There is a market for Misprints. Unfortunately for you, cards missing the holofoil oval at the bottom are one of the most common misprints, so very few collectors are interested in them, thus they're not worth more than a regular copy of the card.

That Duskdale Wurm doesn't look like smeared ink(which isn't really a thing in printing), or running out of ink. Look at that perfect line dividing the good print from the bad. That's a fusing artifact, likely a damaged or worn fuser roller so the pressure on the card wasn't even when it went through. That card was almost certainly printed digitally. That entire sheet should have been thrown out as waste.

2nd generation means that their parents played before they were born, and probably taught them how to play. The parent is the 1st generation, and the child is the second generation. I think it's cool that Magic has been around long enough that the people who were playing it in the 1990's, now have grown kids who are playing the game, and that card collections get passed down to family members. Back in the 1990's, most people didn't expect the game to still be around after all this time.
