Islam is defined by what Allah and the Prophet ﷺ have declared in the Qur'an and Sunnah. Any taxes introduced after the Prophet’s time, though necessary for managing the state, should not be called 'Islamic taxes.' These were decisions made by Muslim rulers based on their understanding of governance, not divinely mandated. It's more accurate to call them part of 'historical taxation practices in Muslim states' rather than conflating them with the core teachings of Islam. This helps keep a clear distinction between Islamic law and historical governance
