I know it's been a while, but thanks so much for these videos. I inherited my Dad's Revere 85, which is basically the same mechanism. I have a lot more respect for this classic piece of American workmanship because of your video.

I have 3 of these. Mine are the Revere model 85. They were built like a tank, but of course they were built in the USA back in the day, and constructed with pride. My parents bought the projector and camera before they were married and paid close to $200 for the set. (the price of a good used car) The camera was a wind up machine and was still being used until the late 70's. Our old projector finally gave out due to a stripped gear at about the same time.

Great video! I wish i found this before disassembling the one i found in my grandmother's house. I found that when i turned the clutch on, the reels did not start spinning. I took it apart and noticed that the reduction gear you pointed out seemed to not engage the shaft when the clutch is turned on. The gear would lock in place when the clutch was off, but seemed to float when the clutch was on. You mentioned that it was spring loaded. Where do i need to look to see if that "spring" needs to be adjusted or replaced? Thank you!

This is identical to my grandfathers revere projector. He's had it since the 40's. Now the clutch won't work. The fan works, and the light works but the reel won't spin. He's not around anymore to show me what to do and so far I haven't found anything on my specific problem. Any advice would be welcome.

I have my father's identical P-90 projector that sounds like it works perfectly. The one issue I have is the spring loaded mechanism that guides the film past the "pick" that advances the film through the "framer". If I put my finger on it and give it slight pressure in the direction of the motor, it settles out, but I can't figure out what the problem is. Is it a weak spring or is it an adjustment I can make in the "film advancer"? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you!

I have this exact projector and I was hoping to see you put this back together. But you put it back together off-cam. Where I am am having a problem is the gear that runs the sprocket mechanism (that advances the film....the part that has the eccentric washer with the pin). I can't seem to get it right. How do you align it when putting it back together? I was hoping there was a registration mark or something. It has to be aligned correctly or it won't be pushed out as it's moving downward. Any help greatly appreciated!!

Is your landfill a typical trash pit - or specifically for for electronics recycling (as I am assuming). Reason I ask is you seem to come across some real jems (some of course require some repair/reconditioning) and I am going to try to locate a site simliar to yours in my area (Columbus, Ohio). Thanks and keep the vids coming!

Blew the dust off my grandfather's Revere Eight Projector Model 85 today for the first time. - Ran right away. - Watched 10min of old film. Thrilling! - Turned off the clutch to attempt Rewind. - Foolishly attempted to Rewind (before reading the instructions...) without unspooling the film from the feed/takeup sprockets. - The film noticeably jerked and stopped - Nothing else noticeable happened (it didn't rewind, of course - but no "problem" was apparent) - Flipped it from Rewind back to Takeup - Turned the clutch back on - No motion at all from sprockets or film (it was no longer turning/working). - I did notice it seemed fairly hot, but I'm not familiar enough to know how hot is normal. - Also noticed it was running loud, but that seems somewhat normal from what I can find online. Help! Anyone available for some help? Point me to some resources? Not much turns up in forums or on KZbin for this projector (however, this video makes me think there are people out there who know a great deal about this!). Thanks in advance!

This looks a lot like my Revere s 16 16mm sound projector. the projector itself works ok, but the sound part does not. need to restore it

As much as I admire and can relate to this altruistic pursuit, but one must concede, these machines are inexpensive. Rather to toil for hours with fingernail polish fixes buy another one or two for parts then use the newfound free time to search for the next acquisition.
