I’m actually really impressed with the amount of flex that platform achieves. Even in stock form these do pretty dang well.

Love this series as I have a ‘13. I found it to be a quite capable stock rig so went with underside protection as my first step. Oh and I built my own roof rack and rear door table for a fraction of the cost of buying them.

I'm building a 470 out. Going with bronze finished method wheels as well and nitto's. I have opted for the Nomad Grappler, however. Strange pick, I know...but I'm in the middle of the great plains where we get a bit of all weather and I'm 7 hrs of highway driving in about any direction from forest service roads. I think this is the best tire to suite my use case. It was between the nomad and BFG trail terrains, supposedly the nitto performs a bit better in all classes.

I like the Lexus setup but Idk….The more I’ve been off-roading, the more I think overland builds are not worth the money. 99% the stuff overlanders do, they can easily do it in a stock Subaru, 4Runner, or Lexus. All they really need is a set of quality all terrain tires (for disclosure, I have a fully built 4Runner). Overlanding gear is pretty overpriced for what they offer, I think. Everyone thinks their rig is so badass until you get to the end of a rough trail and there’s a minivan and a Prius park at the trailhead 😂.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but did you say in the video that the lift you got still is in sync with the KDSS system so that you can have that articulation and ride quality? Do you feel more confident with the ground clearance that you could even keep the stock front bumper as is? Is this a base, premium, or luxury trim? Also, for the lift, wheels, and tires how much did that all come out to?

@fatmanoverlanding4 ай бұрын
@@RevereOverland Thanks for the clarification. Is backspacing the same as a wheel spacer?
@RevereOverland4 ай бұрын
@@fatmanoverlanding offset is how far the spot you mount is from the center of the wheel, and backspacing is how far it is from the spot you mount to the back lip of the wheel. If you have 0 offset, and the same backspacing as mine (because it's the same wheel width) then it'll stick out the same. You could also have a 0 offset and a really wide wheel, where it has a much bigger backspacing, and it'll stick out much further. A narrower wheel with 0 offset and smaller backspacing won't stick out as far. For complete information, my wheel is 8.5" wide.

First thing is not to buy a new generation truck in the 1st or 2nd year. Toyota and Lexus will replace roughly 100,000 engines in Tundra trucks and LX SUVs built for the 2022 and 2023 model years.
@RevereOverland4 ай бұрын
This is a 2016 Lexus GX… not a Tundra or LX.

I know it is a Lexus vehicle. But you bought a 2022 Tundra new generation, 1st year production. Put a lot of money in it. Rookie mistake to buy a new generation truck.

@@Jim-s6i3b it’s been a great buy. It massively boosted my channel, has taken me awesome places without missing a beat, and I get a brand new engine whenever I decide I want one! Very excited for this series! We had a different step 1 for our gx460: a fuel tank skidplate from RCI and a rear differential breather from All Dogs Offroad, but I can see why you went the route you did. Very nice looking rig you got there! 🤩 How would you describe the Ironman FCPs compared to other shocks/suspension systems you have experience with? I’m considering these for our GX vs Bilstein 5100s Also we got the Expedition Essentials dash track with a Fanaue phone mount and highly recommend 👍 👍
@RevereOverland4 ай бұрын
Yeah I have struggled with the order of this series. The second episode was going to be skids and armor, but I realized that the order really depends on your priorities. If you just want to go camping on forest service roads, then tent and camping setup might be more important. I ordered the ORS dash mount!
@RevereOverland4 ай бұрын
I can’t fairly comment on the Ironman yet because I got heavy duty springs but don’t have the bumpers on yet!
@Dusther2104 ай бұрын
@@RevereOverland we got the fuel tank skid first because the GX460 doesn’t come with one (although some have a flimsy half skid) The dog breather because roads flood around us But I guess lifting the truck kinda has the same effect 😅 The ORS unit is a nice piece of hardware. A bit pricey but nifty! I like the ICS option as well
