Love this! What’s the reason for placing two slices back to back? Does it give it a more bold look? If someone is worried about looking stripy would you weave these pieces or keep them slices?

Agreed. I was waiting for someone else to comment this too. My way of tackling the money piece area would be to leave the lowlights behind it. And then, when shadow rooting, apply the root color to roots everywhere else but do the money piece last; and then same with the toner; Apply the toner every where but last to the money piece so that front area will be brighter. 👍✨

Great tutorial, but I would not recommend permanent colour on the roots, as it is difficult to remove and will make highlighting difficult as it grows out. It's going to give you a lot more work as well as cause a lot of unnecessary damage since you have to bleach through permanent colour when they come in for another appointment. Permanent colour is great for on the mids and ends, but not on the roots. I would always use demi on the roots. Using permanent colour on a wig or manakin is fine, but not on a real person with hair that actually grows. Yes I know she used demi, but she also said permanent on the roots is okay, but it really isn't.

@yevette8165
@yevette8165 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t think permanent is good for the ends either as ends are more porous and absorb color more than the roots and you would have to break though that color should she ever want to be lighter again... Demi is perfect for roots and ends when depositing color and have just as much staying power as permanent when used on a porous canvas ..

So basically a reverse balayage is a shadow root added low lights panels and lastly toning entire canvas root to end for those previous blonde pcs left out during the low light process. I’ve been doing it for a long time like that and called it shadow root dimensional balayage 😂. Good to know the name reverse B.

Beautiful!! Just a question, doing the root like that would affect in any way if the client wants more highlights later and doesn't want to do a root retouch after this process? Would there be an orange band in the hair when bleaching again? Thank you so much 💜
@KenraProfessional
@KenraProfessional 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dani! Here's what Kelly had to say when we asked her your question: "I used demi permanent color for this process because it gradually fades over time and doesn't change or stay in the hair the same way permanent color does, so it is very easy to lift through when the client comes in for their next appointment, and you will not have any orange bands." We hope this helps!

I noticed you didn't need to fill the hair first. Is that because you used a warm color? I currently have all over blonde and want to add lowlights but wasn't sure if I have to fill in the blonde first or how I would approach that.
@KenraProfessional
@KenraProfessional 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Amanda! The 8GB (gold brown/beige) is used as the filler in combination with the 7B. In most cases, adding a fill will depend on the level that you currently are and the level you are wanting to be. A good rule is if the desired level is more than 2 levels darker from the current level, you will want to add a fill color or incorporate the natural underlying tones of the desired level into your formula. Incorporating the natural tones or adding a fill will help with longevity of the desired color and will ensure that the color doesn't appear hollow. Hope this helps!

Dude I did this today and it sucked, idk what I did wrong but root shadow on dry hair is wild. Level 10 hair sucks up any teeny tiny bit of color that touches it. I ended up having to start foiling every other section and really wetting it down when blending for like the 10th time.

Can you use this same technique on level 10+ silver/white hair? I currently have white hair, and have for like a year now, but the damage is really building up and I don't want to bleach my roots anymore. I wanted to do a super contrasted look with a reverse balayage, but with black. But I'm not sure how I'd manage that considering I'd have to fill the hair first before I can get it to black ;_;

@@KenraProfessional You are using foil. How is that not lowlights? I had both balayage and reverse balayage on the west coast and they never used foil. For the reverse balayage they wrapped the locks of my hair in saran wrap after painting it. And they painted whole locks not what you are doing. What you are doing there is NOT balayage. Please call it what it is so you don't confuse people.
